If you are one of the millions of people who wish they were a little bit more confident, then here are a couple of tips that can help. Once you start working on your confidence, you’ll find a whole range of things that make you feel great – and practising them every day will help confidence become a staple in your life.
People
Perhaps one of the most important outside influences when it comes to your confidence is the people you spend time with. If you spend a lot of time with people who tend to sap your energy and make you feel like less – then it is time to change who is in your inner circle.
The people you spend the most time with have a huge impact on how you feel about yourself, and if those people aren’t positive and build you up – they aren’t the right people for you.
Accept or change
If you spend a lot of time looking at yourself and pointing out the things you don’t like – you are going to be focusing on them. If there are things that you can change, like the straightness and witness of your teeth, that can be solved with teeth aligners and some help from a dentist. Perhaps you are bored of the same old haircut – then head to the hairdresser or use a box dye to change things up. Want to tone up? Start moving your body more.
Accept the parts of you that you don’t adore – or change them and move on. Try to stop focusing on what you don’t like and look at what you love.
Inner conversation
Our brains spend all day asking questions – but the downfall is it likes to answer them too! If you aren’t asking the right things, you are going to find that you get a lot of negative self-talk going on.
Start to pay attention to what you are saying to yourself and ask yourself, is that something that you would say to a friend? And if it isn’t, why is it something that you are saying to yourself?
Small goals
Confidence builds as we do more things that make us happy and more things that give us some knowledge. One of the most important things is to set small goals and make sure that you celebrate them every time you achieve them.
Why? Well, achieving goals gives us some happy hormones, and each time you reach a small goal – you are on the way to achieving a bigger goal. Aim for small improvements over time until they become a constant fixture in your life.
Gratitude
Low confidence and self-esteem often come from a lot of negative self-talk. You can’t be grateful for something and at the same time hold lots of negative thoughts; while there is a balance, and some negativity does happen, the two can’t take up the same space.
For those of us who are parents, looking after our own confidence is more important – so that we can make sure that it trickles down. Raising confident children isn’t always easy, but here are some tips to help: 5 Tips To Boost Your Teen’s Self-Esteem By Cindy MacCormack – BEYOUROWN.
