Welcome back money maven Jenn Wells, a virtual CFO, accountant, money & money mindset coach, and working with coaches and creative entrepreneurs. Jenn has been working in small business accounting for decades as well as having had her own accounting practice for over 25 years.
Several years ago, Jenn joined the coaching world, in doing that, she found her huge love for working with other coaches and creative entrepreneurs, essentially helping them understand and master their money. On top of that, Jenn offers money alchemy work around money mindset and healing money stories. Jenn still offers monthly accounting services, however, she also offers a more in-depth relationship in which she actually helps with both of the day-to-day financial aspects as part of the team for her clients as their Virtual CFO.
Welcome back, Jenn! Has your typical day changed at all?
My daily schedule has not changed much. I am very committed to sticking to a mapped-out schedule each day, and I feel that is the key to success when you working from home. I start my day with journaling, coffee, reflection, and money work, it’s my quiet time to set the tone for my day. I am making more of a commitment to my own self-care, so I’m making sure my food and body movement is planned out. This has really helped my energy level and the way I am showing up for my clients.
Have you since expanded your workshops/programmes or reached any new milestones that you set out to achieve?
Yes, I have now started to offer online courses around business finances and being the Money Maven of your business. And, I’m recently starting working with clients on Money Alchemy; money mindset and money story work, and am now working on courses for that. I am currently taking an Akashic Records certification program and will be incorporating work around healing your money stories. Money mindset is often a missing aspect of business success.
What is your current business philosophy?
My business philosophy is that balance of work and life is vital to creating a sustainable business. You have to be All In in business, but not at a loss of your personal life. My motto is that I want to create a life that I don’t need a vacation from. Life is lived every day, not someday.
Is your business plan still reflective of your business today or has it altered as you have grown?
My business plan has shifted to offering less one-on-one work and spending more time creating courses that can help more people. I love spreading the concept of being the Money Maven of your business, and I want to share my work with as many people as I can reach.
Have you encountered any challenges or faced any business building carries since we last spoke?
I have the struggle of being my own worst enemy. Marketing and putting my message out on social media has not been my strength, so I have just hired a new coach to help me in this area. I’ve also reached my max that my time and energy will allow working with one-on-one clients, so my coach has helped me move into the business model of offering courses.
One key piece of advice for starting a business in today’s world?
Mind your money! I am a firm believer that you must master your business money, be responsible for it and take care of it. That means to have a bookkeeping system that works for you right from the start, set up your business legally, and keep your business money separate from your personal money. Make regular Money Dates to keep your income and expenses updated in your books and do the practical work of invoicing and paying bills. That way you know where you stand; how much money you are making and how much money you are spending.
How are you continuing to redefine success?
My vision of success is having a well-rounded life. Being happy and fulfilled with your work and having lots of pleasure in your life. Your business should not come at the expense of your relationships or your self-care.
Are you seeking any new professional mentorship or guidance for 2020?
Yes, I’ve just hired a new coach who is helping me map out my 2020 strategy. I’ll be attending her Inner Circle mastermind the first week in January. I also will continue my relationship with my Mastermind partner. We have been supporting each other with twice-weekly Zoom meetings for a few years, and this has been vital in helping me stay accountable for doing my own work to grow and shift my business.
Finally, what can we expect from in the lead up to 2020 and what is your main focus?
Right now my focus is on creating new Money Maven courses. I will also be offering some new coaching packages around Money Alchemy; working on money stories and healing your relationship with money. I will still offer help with the practical aspects of business finances but shifting to include work around how your thoughts and history with money can shift to help you be successful in your business now.
