It is great to have you with us, Anja! Can you tell us a little bit about your own journey as a business strategist?

Being a creative soul, loving harmony and growth I always wanted to do something that would make it possible for me to connect and collaborate with other amazing and inspiring people. I believe we’re here to add value to each other’s lives. And so, about 9 years ago, following my intuition, I got into the business, more specifically sales.

Throughout the years I’ve learned it’s important to reach out and ask for help, so I invested in many business programs and hired high-level coaches and as a result, I advanced and grew all the way to the executive position in a global multi-million-dollar company in a very demanding industry. During that time I also started my coaching business.

So far I’ve helped hundreds of entrepreneurs from 27 different countries worldwide start and/or scale their businesses in a way that’s not only rewarding to them but also fulfilling and fun.

Can you explore how you are helping businesses to scale up and what business guidance that you offer to support their growth?

For one, I don’t use a cookie-cutter approach. There are definitely certain things that most people deal with, like limiting beliefs and behavioural patterns, that affect their ability to thrive. There are also certain skills, particularly in sales and marketing that you have to master if you want to be successful. But everyone is at a different stage in their life and business and each person has their own unique situation they’re dealing with so I always do my best to meet my clients where they are before we go into any technicalities like strategy and skills and such.

Secondly, I look for the fastest road to results. Many people are in their heads too much as it is. So they don’t need to be able to think more but to act in a way that will get them the results they’re looking for. I like to keep things simple and practical. I want people to get a few breakthroughs that will automatically shift how they think and how they act because I want them to get outstanding results as fast as possible.

When you have to think about how you will do something in a situation you’re already in, you’re trapped in a reactive mode and that just keeps you spinning on the spot and it doesn’t bring any growth. You have to be proactive. You have to know exactly what you need to do and you need to be able to act on it fast.

So in short, my main goal is to help my clients get results fast so they can enjoy the fruits of their effort and can actually live their lives the way they’ve envisioned it when they first decided to get into business. Lastly, I only work with people who are coachable and are willing to ask for help.

As entrepreneurs, we don’t have the luxury of waiting for help – it’s our responsibility to get it! If you’re weak in marketing, learn it, practice it. If you’re weak in sales, reach out and get coached, or put an effective sales team in place.

Some people feel that it’s humiliating, that it makes them look incapable if they have to ask for help but it’s exactly the opposite – it’s responsible and empowering. It allows you to remove the obstacles that are in your way to success and get the results you want. Do you want to leave your competition behind? Take control, reach out, get the help and guidance you need and watch your business take off!

Working internationally, how are you balancing the work/life strife between travelling?

I believe work/life balance is not a question of balance, it’s a question of choice. Being an entrepreneur is not a job you chose to do, it’s a life you choose to live. Every. Single. Day.

Sometimes there will be crazy days (and nights) where you will have to make things happen before the deadline or travel so much you lose track of which day it is and which country you’re in (not to mention the confusion with the ever-changing hotel room numbers), and there is no weekend or holiday that will stand in your way… and other times you get to for a quick getaway or go visit your friends that live internationally during the week when everyone else is sitting in their offices or doing whatever it is they’re doing to earn enough to survive. It’s always a personal choice. And there’s never a perfect balance. But when you’re doing what you love, you don’t really mind because it’s a life you chose and it’s fulfilling on many levels.

What platforms are you using for marketing tools?

Right now my main platforms are FB and IG.There are many platforms that are good and effective but it’s not so much about how many you use but how effectively you use them. You can be present only on one and have a lot of success with it if you’re using it right. On the other hand, you can be present on every single one of them and only get overwhelmed and frustrated because you don’t know how to actually monetise them. I believe it’s better to stay focused and get results from one or two and then move to the next one.

Do you currently use any apps or tools to help the functionality/organisation of your day?

I’m a creative soul so I have to keep things simple otherwise I get lost in too many options. I swear by the Calendar app and the Reminder app. I also use Google Drive when I have to share some files with my team. Anything additional to that would just kill my focus and with that efficiency.

Who is the most influential female powerhouse that you admire and why?

There are so many amazing women in various industries that are absolutely killing it in what they’re doing that I respect and admire. I always love to read or listen about women who step up, who don’t allow themselves to get buried in any kind of challenges, setbacks or other people’s opinions. And who, in addition to building a successful career, also manages to create space for a happy family and a breathtaking lifestyle.

For me, it’s a holistic thing. If you have the money but no fulfilment or joy in life, you’re not successful. On the other hand, if you’re joyful but you’re limiting yourself in what you do with your life just because it’s not easy to go for what you want, you’re also not successful. Everything is possible but you will have to decide what is more important and prioritise your daily actions accordingly.

The best 3 lessons you have learnt throughout building your business so far?

  1. One, your network equals your net worth. It’s not about who you know, it’s about who knows you. You have to build relationships and maintain them. It takes time but it’s the most powerful thing when it comes to growing and/or expanding your business.
  2. Two, you have to be willing to be a beginner because you can never know everything. If for example you’re amazing in helping people to lose weight but you can’t sell, get a coach that can help you with your sales skills and get started even if you don’t feel ready. Done is better than perfect and you can never get better unless you try and fail a few times.
  3. And three, you have to always keep practising business. It’s the difference between getting fit and staying fit. You can’t compete if you don’t stay fit. It’s the same in business. And with that, we come back to the importance of having a good coach or a mentor. Even if you practice but you do it wrong, it won’t really help you get the results you want. You have to have someone that can tell you exactly what it is that you’re doing wrong and how you can correct that fast to avoid massive disappointment down the line.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

I see it as a call to action. It’s so easy these days to give in, to comply and simply follow the crowd. It’s how you get most approval from most people. But if you want to live an extraordinary, fulfilling life, you have to be willing to stand out, to be different, and to go against what is seen as normal.

I also see it as a kind reminder to all of us. We’re all unique and we all have a huge potential in us. And just as much as I want to be accepted for following my inner pull, I have to also accept that others are doing the same. Maybe sometimes I won’t understand someone’s choices but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

Each one of us has a unique light within. Let’s support each other and allow them to shine in any colour and strength they come in!

What does 2020 look like for you?

Over the years I’ve learned to say ‘no’ more often, but I’m still not exactly where I want to be with that. I see 2020 as an opportunity to get stronger in that area and to cut out the noise around me and the feeling of guilt that I’ve been experiencing in the past… It’s vitally important to stay focused on the things that make a difference.  Also, I love what one of my coaches says: “you don’t live once, you live every day and die once. You have one shot at life so don’t waste it with excuses.”

My motto in 2020 is going to be “Speed of Implementation, Not Perfection.” — I’m going to expand further and help even more entrepreneurs in achieving their goals — success likes speed and I’ll be their accelerator.
