Hey Ginger, can you introduce yourself to us?

I am Ginger Marie. I am an author, speaker, spiritual teacher, and yoga instructor. Helping other people find happiness is my passion! I love using my gifts to help others feel good. Thank you for holding the space for me to do so on #BEYOUROWN.

Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?

A few short years ago, I was really struggling. I had this deep sense of sadness and heaviness I couldn’t shake. I went to see a therapist for answers and she told me she thought I was depressed. Both of my biological parents struggled with their mental health and this conversation had a lasting impact on my life. That day, in her office, I made the decision that getting by each day was not good enough anymore. I made a promise to myself that I wanted to be happy and I deserved to be happy.

Right around that time, I started seeing a life coach and she taught me that my thoughts created my reality and I could change my life by changing my thoughts. I started focusing on loving and accepting myself more deeply, and as a result, my perceptions of myself and the outside world changed.

It was during this year of unbelievable growth, that I realised that I wanted to be a Life Coach to help other women cultivate a deer level of happiness and self-love within. So, I left my corporate job, started my life coaching business, got my yoga teacher certification, and wrote my first book, Your Weekly Guide to Bliss. This past year, I have been focusing more on spiritual teaching than one on one coaching, but the core principles of my work have stayed the same.

What is a day in the life of you like?

It changes every day and I kind of thrive on that. I do have a weekly schedule, but every week is a little different. Some days I am teaching a corporate, studio, or private yoga class while other days I am focused on social media, writing, or preparing for an upcoming talk. I am also largely involved in a project on kindness, so I spend several hours a week working with a startup on this initiative.

How you are helping your clients to breakthrough self-doubt and negative patterns keeping them feeling stuck?

I help my clients bring awareness to their fear-based thoughts and patterns. I help them recognise that fear is normal and anytime they want to try something new or grow in some way fear will be there.  With accountability and support, I guide them to understand and appreciate their fear but not allow it to stop them from doing and having what they truly desire.

Can you talk us through your best-selling book ‘Your Weekly Guide to Bliss: 52 Ways to Welcome Happiness and Cultivate a Life You Love’

In Your Weekly Guide to Bliss, I guide my readers through my personal happiness journey and share 52 creative life-changing practices I used to help change mine and my client’s lives.

As I mentioned earlier, I love helping others create happier lives and this book is filled with tools or challenges on how to do that. The premise of the book is to do one challenge a week for a year.

Can you give us 3 tips to feel truly radiant, happy, and confident in our own skin?

  1. Love yourself.
  2. Forgive quickly.
  3. Make gratitude a daily practice.

Who does the team involve behind you?

It involves my supportive and loving family. I am grateful for them holding the space for me to do what I love. I know it hasn’t always been easy or made sense from their perspective, but I am forever grateful for their love and support. I also hire out work such as editing, design, automation, etc. as needed.

Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?

I see myself speaking on stages across the globe. I also see writing being a large focus in my business. I have several book ideas that I want to focus on over the next few years. One on manifesting love, another about finances and paying off debt, and a book on how to apply the principles of A Course in Miracles.

What strategies do you have in place when looking at the expansion of your business?

For me, my business strategy starts with my intuition. I love being able to tune in and ask myself, “How can I serve?” “How can I reach the people who need to hear my message today?” I then take action on that guidance.

For example, my intuition has helped me write my book, gain clients, be featured in articles and magazines, team up with other entrepreneurs, etc. and all of these have led to an expansion in my business.

I believe we have the answer to any question we could ever have within, we just have to silence our minds long enough to receive it, and then take inspired action on that guidance.

Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?

The daily life of an entrepreneur has been challenging. There are so many highs and lows and sometimes you get both on the same day. The inconsistency has been challenging.

Have you ever had any other mentor? If so how has this benefitted you to grow?

Yes, I have worked with several coaches that have helped me grow my business. I also have a business mentor that I really look up to as a person. He really walks his talk and practices kindness to everyone he meets. He really inspires me to be a better version of myself.

What outlets do use to market your business?

Mostly Instagram and Facebook. Craigslist, classes, and word of mouth for the yoga portion of my business.

Which methods are you using to build your own support network?

I meet tons of wonderful spiritual business owners online. I have also built a large support network from events such as seminars, summits, and retreats.

What do you believe are the common misconceptions about Angel Card Readings and how are you using your platform and voice to educate people more?

That they are negative or bad. Angel Cards are similar to Tarot Cards however, they do not have the same sometimes negative connotation. For instance, you will never see a card about death in an Angel Card Deck. Angel Cards only use positive energy, images, and messages. I believe they are a wonderful way to receive guidance from your angels and guides.

What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?

Less focus on what people can get and how much money they can make and more focus on how people can give and make an impact.

What is the best piece of business advice you have received to date?

The best way to make decisions is through intuition and feelings. If it doesn’t feel good for you, you don’t have to do it just because you think everyone else is. One great thing about being a business owner is that you can make your business your own. So, don’t be afraid to make it your own. Your tribe will love you for it.

What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?

It’s okay to fail. If you are failing, you are one step closer to success.

How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?

I make my morning spiritual practice a non-negotiable. Every day I meditate, do yoga, and read from books such as ‘A Course in Miracles,’ the Bible, and daily devotionals, to center and ground myself for the day.

The highlight of your career so far?

Having my book become a best-seller on Amazon was an amazing accomplishment for me.

What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?

What really lights me up is being able to witness a client have a shift or healing moment. I love being able to offer guidance that can help heal others one ah-ha moment at a time.

What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of your business?

Consistent inspiration. There are days where I don’t feel inspired or in the flow. Sometimes it feels like it is harder to have a bad day and as an entrepreneur since so much of your business is you. If something is off in your personal life it can trickle into your business. As often as I can, I try to honour the days when I don’t feel inspired and ride the waves of momentum on the days that I do.

I would also say, growing my platform in ways that feel authentic to me is a challenge. Not just doing something because other entrepreneurs have had success doing it but because I want to do it and feels real.

Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?

Gabrielle Bernstein as her work deeply resonates with me and I love how authentic she is in her messaging. Also, Oprah Winfrey, I admire how confident she is as a person and also in the work she does in the world.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

I recently finished reading Marianne Williamson’s book, ‘Tears to Triumph.’ Marianne is so gifted. I always enjoy the prayers she includes in all of her books.

Top 3 go-to Podcast channels?

  1. Erica Wernick’s ‘The Hollywood Success’ Podcast. Erica has been a dear friend of mine for many years and I love her work on mindset and the law of attraction. In her podcast, she combines mindset and strategy to help others achieve their Hollywood dreams.
  2. Sean Sechrist’s ‘The Unbeaten Path’ Podcast. Sean is my accountability partner. We also went to the same college, The University of Dayton. Go Flyers!  His podcast shares the stories of people who got out of their comfort zone to blaze their own path in life and business.
  3. Saed Albasha’s ‘Access to Success’ Podcast. Saed is a friend and a fellow member of the local Rotary Club.  His podcast helps educate and inspire others on their journey to success.

(This is four, but I also dig Gabby Bernstein’s podcast on her Miracle Membership.)

How do you measure your own terms of success?

By how aligned and in flow I feel. I want to be in my joy while making an impact.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

It means to be you! It is so easy to play the comparison game as an entrepreneur. Your business does not have to be like everyone else’s because you are unlike anyone else.

Lastly, what is next for you?

I have been feeling a huge pull towards the metaphysical text, ‘A Course in Miracles.’ Over the last year, it has become clear to me that I am supposed to apply its teachings to my work. I recently started a virtual ACIM study group on Thursday night’s and it really lights me up. I see myself writing and lecturing on the teachings of the Course to females of my generation.
