#BEYOUROWN MEETS JASMINE MILHOUSE

Jasmine Milhouse is the Founder and CEO of Life Tips by Jazz, LLC. Author of How Did I Get Here, Motivational Speaker, and a Transitional Life Coach. Above all of those things, Jasmine is a wife and mother. The creation of Life Tips by Jazz came from Jasmine always being the go-to friend when needing advice since she has always been the mother amongst her friends.

Not only this, but Jasmine knows there are so many women that needed the same advice in life. Therefore Jasmine started a Facebook Live show called ‘LifeTips Wednesdays’. LifeTips Wednesdays is a show that provides solutions and hopes for different situations in life that someone may not know how to get out of. Jasmine loves helping women build self-esteem and self-confidence through personal coaching and practical self-love strategies.

Hey Jasmine, can you introduce yourself to us and tell us your story?

My name, of course, is Jasmine Milhouse also known as LifeTipsbyJazz. I am a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful children and I am just an avid lover of second chances. Let me explain what I mean by that the beginning of my life was no walk in the park. My mother dated a man that was verbal, mentally, and physically abusive. He was an alcoholic. I was raped in molested by a total of 8 different men half of whom were family members. This tragedy started at the age of 5 and didn’t end until I was 15 years old. I was a teenage mother at 17 and had moved out of my mom’s house because I was just tired of being treated the way I was.

However, I quickly learned that being on your own is not as easy as my mom made it looked. As a child I didn’t know what a bill or job was, I was worry free from that part. When I pregnant with my daughter her father denied her and told me he didn’t want anything to do with us, which was extremely heartbreaking. At the age of 18, I thought I had met the love of my life and everything was going to be all better. Newsflash!!!! It wasn’t. At one point we were homeless with nothing to call our home. We had some friends that were gracious enough to let us sleep on her floor.

Fast forward a few years, I am divorced, depressed, contemplating suicide, financially struggling, broke, but most of all I was broken. One day a friend of mine introduced me to a company and I was around so many positive people that it started to rub off on me in a good way. I was introduced to my now husband and he encourages me in so many ways in not only business but in person as well. The encouragement passed on to me the ability to love myself the right way and not dwell on my flaws because we all have some. So after some tragic situations, losses, personal development, praying, fasting, and encouragement I was able to turn my life into a platform to help so many other women.

Can you tell us how you arrived at where you are now?

I was in a network marketing company and I reached the top 10% of the company along with some others. However, I discovered there were many people that had all the success in the world but was still unhappy. I noticed the women that were not successful at all were also unhappy. My heart ached and I knew that deep down I could help because I remember the time I was unhappy. I used my life as my message and testimony to inspire women.

What were the first few steps to becoming a fully certified life coach?

The first steps to becoming a fully certified life coach are acknowledging that this is what you’re called to do in life. Then you have to understand the difference between a ‘life coach’ and a ‘therapist.’

In an over-saturated market of coaches, how are you standing out?

What makes me stand out is I really don’t focus on what other coaches are doing. I know there is a possibility that I may not reach all the 11 billion people in the world and I am ok with that. I am more focused on the women that I can help and reach as many people as I can.

Can you talk us through how you specialise in creating personalised plans and provide the tools to guide us forward and achieve our desired goals?

First thing is getting to understand what daily affirmations are, without the power of words it changes the level of mental power you possess. Most women that work with me really don’t know what goal setting is. I teach women to look inside themselves and figure out what makes them the saddest.

Once we discover where the disconnect is, I have them face the issue head-on. You have to fall in order to get back up. I basically push my clients off the ledge in order to release the inner fears. Once they recognise their walls need to be torn down, I teach different strategies they can do daily in order to rebuild them but with a different kind of wall.

As a life coach, how are you helping us as women to identify the core challenges and setbacks in our own life so that we can learn to overcome them?

Getting people to open up can be one of the hardest things in life, even when they seek your help. Things are no different in life coaching. The key is listening because when you do you can hear so much anger, fear, pain, loss, tiredness, and so many other things. Women tell stories in our words but sometimes knowing how to read between the lines helps with the follow-up questions. This sometimes leads them to discover their own setbacks and challenges

As an entrepreneur how are you funding your venture?

I currently still work a full-time 9-5.

How are you planning to expand your services?

My plan is to expand to different markets by placing advertisements, magazine features, radio interviews as well.

The most rewarding moment in your personal life?

I hope I can cheat a little with this one right here as I can’t really sum up into one moment which was most rewarding! So, I will give you 4 moments. The first one giving birth to my daughter, then giving birth to my son. After that is marrying my husband and then finally the day I physically held my book in my hands.

What do you think makes a great entrepreneur?

In my opinion, what makes a great entrepreneur is the ability to remain humble. Not only that but the ability to be a great listener.

What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?

Knowing that I am helping and will be helping so many women gives me so much satisfaction.

Can you tell us what areas you have struggled with the most whilst being an entrepreneur?

Before I really got serious about my business, I have struggled with wanting to quit. I struggled with depression, weight loss. Feeling like I am not reaching enough people. I had to understand some things.

Have you ever had a life coach? If so how has this benefited you to grow?

If you consider my mom as being my life coach then yes I have. My mother has been the biggest supporters.

What outlets do use to market yourself?

Right now I am only on social media. I let people know to go check out my website which is over at www.jasminemilhouse.com

Which methods are you using to build your audience and expand your network?

I have a Facebook live show that I do every week and it is called ‘LifeTips Wednesdays,’ this show has given me the opportunity to be featured on stage with a few women becoming a Payne Love You.

What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?

Don’t give the enemy the satisfaction of seeing you quit just because of frustrations.

What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned since being a life coach?

The 1 critical lesson I have learned would be that I don’t know everything.

How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?

My evenly balanced work and personal life come from having a calendar which allows me to keep track of everyone and where they are supposed to be.

Which other life coaches or leading female pioneers do you also admire and why?

I admire Lisa Nichols and Dani Johnson as they both have powerful stories. The real and rawness from Lisa Nichols make you sit back down and think about your life and where it is headed. Dani Johnson, on the other hand, is more soothing and she speaks life and hope.

What YouTube or online space channels are you watching currently?

At this current moment, I’m watching ‘Motivating the Masses’, ‘Milhouse Marketing Agency’, then also Dani Johnson, Myles Munroe, Gerald Bass, and Symone Redmond.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

A great book to read at the moment is my book, it’s called ‘How Did I Get Here?’ Then I read ‘The War of Art.’

How do you measure your terms of success?

I know this may sound crazy but I measure my success by the number of people I help. As long I am helping and being a blessing to someone else, then my blessings will come back to me.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

#BEYOUROWN means to not have to owe the world anything besides being great. #BEYOUROWN to means you are unfiltered, no apologies necessary, #BEYOUROWN means to display who you are as a woman and not who you are mocking.

Lastly, what is next for you throughout 2018?

For 2018 I am hoping to have more features like this. I am planning a women’s conference for 2019. I am also writing my second book, will be launching my coaching program pretty soon as well.
