Hey Jasrin, can you introduce yourself to us?
I was born in Dehra-Dun, India, and raised in a conventional Indian Sikh family. I went to university at Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi and later did my MBA from INSEAD in Singapore. I have lived in India, U.S. A, U.A.E and Singapore and done significant travelling over my life. Currently based in Singapore, I have my own Coaching and Consulting firm, Eikaa
Over my professional career, I have explored various avenues, gaining experience in both entrepreneurship and corporate roles, mostly in the financial services sector. My search for fulfillment and purpose in life, however, led me on an intensely personal and spiritual growth journey and life has been completely transformed since.
Can you take us through your story so we can understand a bit more in depth about how you arrived at where you are now?
On another sleepless night, as I stood on my terrace, staring at the stars, I found myself to be the saddest, emptiest and unhappiest person I knew. Nothing outwardly was absent, but there was a deep sense that something truly important was missing from my life, but I could not put a finger on it. “This can’t be it! I thought – This can’t be the life that I came here to live.” The two questions played on repeat in my mind: “Who am I and what is my purpose for being here?“
I had been unable to fill that sense of nagging emptiness that had made me uneasy, all my life. I had tried, with all the things that I thought would fill that emptiness – Relationships, children, a career, personal and financial freedom, but nothing had occupied that crater and the chasm was getting bigger. Around 2008, that nagging sense of emptiness had reached its pinnacle, and become a bottomless painful, heart-rending chasm. It was a wakeup call!
I set out on the journey to find out what it was that I was yearning for, and I knew the answers did not lie in conventional knowledge. It took me many years of searching to shape it out. During these years I went through, innumerable trials and errors, broken relationships, lost friendships, false spiritual teachers, real spiritual teachers, countless books, scriptures, understandings, and epiphanies before landing firmly on my feet again.
There were two parts to my journey – The first part was to find my own authentic self. As Rumi says – “That which you are seeking, is seeking you.”
Understanding and connecting to my authentic self, required a deep awareness of my own mind, my thoughts, emotions and an understanding of the lack of connection with myself. I became my own research project, uncovering the association, my thoughts and emotions had on my external reality and circumstances. As I connected the dots, my authentic self, started to emerge. The burden of mental and social-conditioning had caused a real disconnect, with my essential nature. With the emergence of my real self, the emptiness quickly waned.
The authentic self is the one that is fully and honestly part of God, the creator, the source, the universe – and that which is without the ego, the false desires, the frameworks, the religious and social conditioning, that we have all been taught to believe. My question – “Who am I?” had been answered.
That lead to the second part of my journey – my search for purpose. Authenticity, a deep connection, understanding, and acceptance of yourself, is a pre-requisite for determining our purpose for existence.
The purpose is always about being of service to others and that required me to go through certain initiations on the journey, which prepared me to be ready to “serve”. In researching my own mind and heart (thoughts and emotions), and their connection with the outer world, I was preparing to help others understand and work with their minds and hearts.
The uncovering process has been the most exciting fruitful journey and turns out to be something that I am deeply passionate about. Using my experiences, as well as the gifts that have been bestowed upon me through my journey, my desire is to facilitate the emotional and mental well-being of others and help them uncover their own purpose.
My objective is to empower others to live a life, where they are tapping on their highest potential. The power of the universe resides right within us. Life is meant to be the most enthralling journey of wonderment, joy, and passion – Let’s help more people live it that way.
As an Executive and life coach, what is a day in the life of you like?
My day always begins very slowly and when possible, I spend the first two to three hours of my day, with myself, my spiritual practice and meditation. Except for days that I am doing full day facilitations, I usually have 2-3 coaching sessions a day, which could be spread through the day. In between, I spend time studying, doing admin or marketing work, and meeting new clients. Since I work from home quite often, it’s easy to go back and forth from home to work. Evenings are for yoga or exercise and dinner with the family. My last few minutes at night, before sleeping is spent in gratitude and prayer again.
Who are the coaches and mentors that have inspired you, or you learned from?
I have had some great coaches and teachers on my own journey, both physically present and at a spiritual level. At the spiritual level, one of my first teachers was Paramhansa Yogananda whose self realisation study programs, gave me a very firm foundation. I have been, and continue to study the Ascended Masters Teachings, which have given me a masterful understanding of human psychology and the human energy field. Understanding of our 4 energy bodies – physical, emotional, mental and identity and the relations of those, to what is happening in our reality is a special gift and helps me tremendously in my work. I also would name a few books that have been my teachers and I have read and studied them repeatedly.
Here are my top 5:
- ‘Conversations With God’ by David Neale Walsh. Taught me that God was a beautiful, humorous, loving and benign presence. It also taught me how to live and love life.
- ‘A Course In Miracles.’ Taught me everything I needed to know about the ego, and how to undo it.
- ‘The Power Of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle.” Showed me the Power of Presence, and how to use that as a coach.
- ‘Power Vs. Force’ by David Hawkins. Helped me focus on who I want to be, and how I want to present myself to the world.
- ‘The Power Of Awareness’ and other books by Neville Goddard. who taught me how to effectively use my imagination and consciousness.
Physical teachers or coaches and the power of having a “real-life” Coach cannot be overstated. The presence of these people in my life has greatly accelerated my own journey. Mel Brand, helped me to heal, at a time where I was not doing so well. He also taught me the Meridien’s Energetics Healing modality, which I often use on my clients. Bob Proctor, who taught me how to set and achieve goals, create a Business and everything I need to understand the workings of the sub-conscious mind.
How awesome that you were trained and mentored by successful author and Proctor Gallagher Institute co-founder, Bob Proctor, can you tell us about this incredible experience and how the opportunity came about?
Early on in my coaching journey, I wanted a way in which to deliver some of the knowledge, understanding and wisdom that I had gained over the last ten years or more to people in a simplified and easy to digest manner. When I came across the Thinking Into Results program, I knew I had found the solution. It was an amazing program that encapsulated so much wisdom and could be delivered over a 6 month period. I am not even sure, how I ended up finding Bob and this program, but it was one of the best things I ever did. Being mentored by Bob Proctor, an icon of the personal growth industry has been a special privilege.
Would you also be looking to follow in the footsteps of Bob Proctor, and venturing into writing and publishing books?
Yes, writing a book has been on my mind. In fact, I already have a draft ready, but I am waiting for some space to focus exclusively on it, so I can produce something worthwhile for my audience. I also want to be fully inspired and creative when I am writing. For divine guidance, we need to stand still for a while! I have been so busy learning to be a good coach and coaching clients, that I have not had the space and time to focus on the book – but it is on its way.
How you are guiding your clients through their self-discovery process which includes exploring their deepest desires?
There is no one formula that works for everyone. As a Coach with mastery, you must let your intuition play a very large role, in the coaching process and come up with what’s needed at any particular time for a client.
I do have some core competencies and expertise in particular areas. On the subtle plane, I focus a lot on the Emotional Body of my client. In our emotional bodies, lie many blocks, that prevent us from being who we truly are. These emotional blocks present themselves as fear, beliefs, conditioning, lack of self-love, inner-child trauma to name a few. Intuition plays a key role in this discovery process and zoning in what needs attention and I will use techniques and tools that will allow for this process to happen smoothly.
On the more rational plane, I focus on the Values and Strengths of my clients. We will go through assessments such as the Strength Finder, Individual Values Assessment, Spiritual Quotient Assessment, Enneagram etc. I also have a somewhat structured process to uncover some of the deeper values and motivations. Each client is unique, and their main strengths, personality type and values are a very good indicator for what they were born to do.
How would you say you are initiating ways for them to achieve their personal and professional goals?
The objective for my clients, is to help them live an authentic life that is aligned with their values and strengths, free of limiting beliefs and conditioning. As I work with my clients, they learn to let go of the quest for perfection, stop trying to fix themselves, or aspects that our considered weaknesses. Instead, they focus on what’s good and unique about them and how they can create value in the world.
they become more aligned and clearer on their true nature, they naturally start to flourish and so are effortlessly happier, more productive and a lot more creative. They conserve and create energy, and learn to direct it meaningfully, to create a life that is both fulfilling and successful.
Of course, part of the process is to help them create structures and formulate goals that will help them grown and evolve.
Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?
My focus in the next 1-2 years is to further my awareness, presence and excellence as a coach. In 3-5 year’s time, I see myself working with a lot more Senior Leaders and CEOS of companies, as well as more mature clients. I also see myself facilitating dialogues and mediating high level conversations for organisations and public institutions.
How are you planning to expand the services you offer at Eikaa?
I believe I have a lot to offer already, and expansion if it occurs, will happen organically. If you had asked me the same question a year or two ago, I would have laid out my big ambitious roadmap. However, something has changed – and desire to build an empire is no longer on the fore front of my dreams. Rather, I really want to focus on mastery at what I do and deliver. These words by Dr. David Hawkins from Power Vs. Force resonated deeply, and left an indelible mark on me.
“Dedication of an unusual degree is required to achieve mastery, and in the simplest definition, one could say, that genius is the capacity for an extra-ordinary degree of mastery in one’s calling. A formula for all geniuses, prominent or not is: DO what you like to do best, and then do it to the best of your ability”.
That really is my mantra – since I know what I love to do, I must first work towards mastery as a Coach, and anything else will follow naturally from it.
Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?
All the work that I did, before becoming a coach, felt like a struggle. I knew I did not lack intelligence but success, as it occurs in a Corporate setting, was not mine to be had. Of course, as I went through my discovery process, I realised that it was simply the case of “the dog barking up the wrong tree”. The ego drives us to be like the rest, be better than the rest, it doesn’t care about your values, strengths or unique purpose – it simply wants to prove itself to the world. Till I was working with that frame of my mind, I think everything was a struggle.
What outlets do you use to market Eikaa?
I have used various methods of marketing – social media, events, blog writing and working with Partner organisations, but increasingly rely on meeting people socially and referrals from my client base.
Which methods are you using to build your own network?
I believe that my networks, best grow – organically. Some of my key strengths are Connectedness and Empathy, and those are the skills that bring both friends and clients to me. These deep relationships naturally become both supporters and referrers.
What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?
To do what I like to do best, and then do it to the very best of my ability.
Number 1 top tip?
Find your calling, and then give your heart and soul to it. Stop following the crowds and find your #BEYOUROWN as soon as possible.
How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?
I cannot function without balance, so it is not really a choice that I make, but something I need, to be fully productive. When you are living from and in a place of ease, you rarely find yourself overworked. I do run the risk from time to time, to take it too easy.
The highlight of your career so far?
Discovering and accepting that coaching was my calling.
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
Using the power of presence in my coaching, and watching my clients flourish and blossom.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
My admiration list includes a variety of visionaries – those who display excellence, with a sense of purpose and grace. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Roger Federer, Elon Musk and Oprah Winfrey
How would you say you are intending to use your voice to educate others in the coaching industry?
I have always believed that you have to be the change you want to see in the world. I don’t have an activist gene in me, it is more about displaying excellence and grace in all I do. I gauge myself by the tiniest of things, how I interact with others, what attention and presence I am able to give to each person/ coach/ client, how calm am I in challenging situations, and how to best use my voice in a public forum. My only piece of advice to other coaches would be – do the work on yourself first, and then set out to work with others.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
‘The Power Of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle and ‘Power Vs. Force’ by Dr. David Hawkins
What does your Podcast playlist look like?
I am not big into Podcasts yet, but listen to a fair amount to Audiobooks: Currently, I am listening to ‘Practicing Presence’ by Eckhart Tolle, ‘A Guide For The Spiritual Teacher,’ ‘The Power of Awareness’ series by Neville Goddard and ‘Lead the Field’ By Bob Proctor
How do you measure your own terms of success?
Deep inner peace is the most important pre-requisite for success for me. Excellence in my vocation, being the best coach/ facilitator I can be. Love, joy and laughter and being able to share that with family and friends. Physical well-being and living in a healthy body and loving myself. Constant growth and evolution both mentally, spiritually and also financially.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
Living in alignment with my authentic self, my values, purpose and soul desires. Loving, accepting and respecting myself for the very precious being that I am.
