Hey Jennica, can you introduce yourself to us?

I’m Jennica Collado, born and raised in the Philippines. My mission is to help highly sensitive women in business all over the world see their sensitivity trait as a superpower (especially as an entrepreneur!) through facilitating self-love, uncovering their innate confidence, and creating a strategy specifically for high-level sensitives.

Can you tell us a little bit about you and your career background?

Before I started being an online entrepreneur, I had a degree in Psychology and spent seven years in corporate. I worked a lot in Software Development, which is so far from what I studied in university. Even if I’m happy with how blessed I was in corporate, I always knew that I wanted to go back to doing work in a career infused with Psychology. I can’t figure out if it can ever be possible back then but I never lost hope.

Fast forward five years and even if I entered the entrepreneurial world as a Virtual Assistant, I am now coaching and teaching women like me, highly sensitive women, to show up in the online space with a strategy that has helped me get to the level of confidence I have today. When I pivoted my business from consultancy to coaching, I was astounded by the relatively low level of awareness of highly sensitive people. The sensitive female entrepreneurs are following tactics and strategies clearly made for an extravert or a non-highly sensitive person. No wonder their journey has been so filled with struggles and self-doubt! I made it my mission to change that through sharing a message of self-love and empowerment.

As I’m a forever student of life, I value continuous growth in my field. I’m currently training on the cognitive behavioural approach to coaching while I’m doing self-study on highly sensitive entrepreneurs.

As a business owner from the Philippines, you were exposed to people not believing that you should be proud of where you’re from, how did that play a big part in you getting to where you are today?

I remember choosing to believe somebody’s assumption of me and my culture instead of doing something to disprove it, which obviously didn’t help me move forward. Looking back, I smile and I choose to see that experience as necessary to have a fire lit under me, to encourage and motivate me to be more than what others expect me to be. It was a good decision to use this experience to teach me how powerful language is – which is a huge topic that I continuously teach my clients.

What made you figure you wanted more from life?

When I found myself working nights for a startup company. It’s not as bad as it sounds because I’m blessed in other ways (e.g. good compensation and wonderful colleagues). I’ve gotten used to it but it’s not a life I want for more than what’s needed.

The moment of seeing the dark 2am skies, typing and typing, attending meetings, working, all while my family slept. That’s lonely. It showed me the kind of life I don’t want to be living for more than several years and especially not when I decide to start a family of my own.

How would you say that you are a guiding light for others?

Ever since I began my coaching journey I made a commitment to myself to live a life that would be a positive example for others. My daily goal is to be loving and kind to my own self to show other women that self-love is essential in achieving what they desire in life and in business. I prioritise time to share my message through the platform I created with my brand to show entrepreneurs that the practical, tech stuff is secondary to being an inspiration for other people.

Can you tell us what is your most seminal point?

I don’t think I have a seminal point yet but I’m building towards that.

A most rewarding moment in your personal life?

Looking back and seeing my metamorphosis. There’s no single moment but more of a collection of changes. From following my intuition to transition from a comfortable career in Human Resources to a scary turn in Information Technology. From the growing comfortable role of being a business analyst to an adventure venture of starting an online business and a personal brand.

As an introvert, can you tell us what areas you have struggled with the most in business?

As an introvert and as a highly sensitive person myself, I have struggled the most with doing live streams. The fear of being vulnerable and open that only a live stream can bring out is too much for me when I was starting. I have worked on my fears since then, and I can now proudly say that I have reached the point of being able to go live without having to break a sweat.

Have you ever had a mentor?

In my two years in business, I’ve had a couple of mentors and they’ve led me from one phase of life and business to another. My first mentor is Jana Rowland of JanaWorks. She trained me in transitioning my mindset from that of an employee’s to an entrepreneur’s. I’ll always be grateful for her seeing the potential in me and giving me the chance to basically learn on-the-job. My current mentor is Katrina Ruth, a manifestation coach, and she’s has been my guiding light in living a life of courage and truth.

Which methods are you using to build your audience and expand your network?

I love Instagram and I love doing short videos so I mix that up by using Instagram Stories every single day and posting 60-second laser-focused videos in my feed. I believe that we can attract the people we are meant to connect with through our energy, and video is such a big factor in that. I expand my network even more by being genuinely interested in people and engaging with them through Instagram DMs and Facebook groups.

What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?

To get behind myself. To be confident that I have everything I need at the moment I need it. It’s very empowering to hear and accept this in the way I live.

What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned along your path to success?

That every unpleasant thing that happens to me contains a lesson that I have to learn. Choosing to look the other way will not get rid of the problem but will be a reason for it to continue coming up in my life.

This taught me that mindfulness and intentionality are must’s in my business. The more I become aware of situations and seeing them as what they are the better everything flows for me.

How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?

I don’t really believe in balance, I believe in a flow. As long as I feel flow in the things I do daily, I’m happy. People may call that balanced, I guess. I see being in flow as different because there can be days when I do more work than play and visa versa. I’m not bothered because it’s what makes me happy. When I feel like I need to step back from work, I follow my intuition and spend more time relaxing and focusing on my family.

Which other leading entrepreneurs and leading female pioneers do you also admire and why?

Katrina Ruth, of course. This woman needs to be known by more women! Just being a student in her courses created shifts in my life. She teaches people to be themselves and to follow their soul’s desires. These are the things I know I need most in my business and this magnetises me to her and her energy.

What Youtube or online space channels are you watching currently?

I’m into spiritual Youtube channels right now so I enjoy watching Phil Good Life and Aaron Doughty.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

My favourite book right now is ‘The Law Of Divine Compensation’ by Marianne Williamson. It’s such a beautiful way of explaining the spirituality in money and abundance.

What does your Podcast playlist look like?

Katrina Ruth’s ‘Success Smackdown’ and Brooke Castillo’s ‘The Life Coach School.’

What does success look like in your eyes?

Success is following my soul’s purpose. I believe that if I let my soul desires win, I’ll do what I’m meant to do and the material abundance that comes with that will naturally flow.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

#BEYOUROWN means standing strongly in one’s power.

Lastly, what is next for you?

I have so many many exciting plans for this year! Facebook groups. Masterclasses. Workshops. All for the highly sensitive woman entrepreneur!
