Hey Kristyn, can you introduce yourself to us?
I am an Intuitive Business Coach. I mentor health practitioners, coaches, consultants, and other spiritual entrepreneurs in building profitable businesses that give back, through my 1-1 coaching programs, retreats, group mastermind experiences, and immersive online courses.
I combine straight-up practical business building strategies with powerful spiritual tools (and lots of love) to help my clients overcome blocks, find clarity, and create success.
I’m also a travel junkie (45+ countries so far!), hiking geek, and lover of all kinds of tea.
Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?
I learned how to build a profitable business the hard way.
After more than 11 years of providing transformational coaching and healing work, and 6+ years as a Certified Hypnotherapist (plus more than 20 years managing the business of healthcare in my regular J-O-B), I had a problem. I wasn’t making enough money in my coaching practice to quit my 9-5 job…a goal I desperately wanted to achieve!
I had always wanted to do meaningful work in the world, but somehow there I was, in a toxic cubicle, doing work that was not making a difference! I hit bottom when I suddenly found myself driving to this job in a horrible commute day after day, crying, angry, and sick to my stomach. I didn’t even recognise myself! Something had to change.
I made a vow that I would quit my job by my next birthday, no matter what. I knew I needed help, and I began looking for a business coach. I found a powerful one, and within just a couple of sessions he helped me get a giant breakthrough about my ‘why.’
The healing work I had been doing was partly “right” but the big epiphany was that I also love to help people build and create their businesses. I love the strategy, and the implementation. I also love teaching, which is a natural fit for business coaching because there’s always so much to learn! Last, I realized that I already knew a lot about building a healing/coaching business, since I had created my own (not to mention all those courses and training events)! And, I also had a history of business management in my former non-profit career to add to the mix, so I switched from helping nail biters and smokers with Hypnotherapy to helping people reach their true potential by making good money doing work they love.
I apprenticed with my coach for 2+ years, plus invested many thousands of additional dollars in business mentors and training programs. I got my hands on every piece of business success information that I could. I learned how to implement the right systems and strategies, so I could create consistent income in my business that I could truly count on.
I did indeed keep my vow, and right before my birthday that year, I walked away from the job for good, and into my coaching business full time. I’ve never looked back!
Today I have an International Business Coaching practice where I get to use all of my tools and experience, and I love it!
How much research did you do on the market prior to getting started and what were you findings?
Well, to be honest, I never did any market research before becoming an entrepreneur (at least not research to determine the viability of my business idea). I discovered my path by just following my instinct, and by starting. After that, there were many mistakes, successes, pivots, and more. For most of us, I believe that we get clarity by going through an experience (vs. being able to see ahead of time what the end outcome will be)!
I did do a ton of general research by consuming many books and blogs on entrepreneurship, for years before I actually started my own business.
How is your business funded, is it bootstrapped, self funded ect?
It has been bootstrapped and self funded all the way! I started this business on the side of a full time cubicle job, and so it was all pretty much DIY the first couple of years.
Can you tell us more about the brand DNA and ethos of your business and how you are standing out from the crowd?
My biggest ‘why’ for why I do what I do is to get more healing into the world. To help individuals create their own meaningful work that sustains them, and also solves global problems.
I’m also a stand for not settling. Really. This is an extraordinary time on the planet, and we don’t have time to waste doing work and living lives that are out of alignment with our soul purpose.
Building a business is not just about being financially successful. I have a saying, that “Business can be our Medicine”, because on this path you will be faced with all your limiting beliefs, traumas, etc. BUT, the beauty is that you also then have the opportunity to heal and transform as a result!
What’s unique about my approach is the way that I blend soul + strategy, and in a way that’s very customised for each client (not cookie-cutter). Working with me is a very integrative experience.
Can you give us highlight 3 ways we can nourish our soul and how are you using your platform to educate us?
- Allow yourself to receive. You cannot fulfil your mission alone.
- Believe that you are worthy of not settling.
- Let yourself be seen. The world is waiting for you.
Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?
I am building a training company to teach coaches and healers how to create a successful business, all within a supportive community. Although we will teach about all kinds of business strategies and tools, I will include some personal development and spiritual support in the program, because building a business is such an “inside job”. The truth is, I can give someone the most amazing strategies in the world, but if they don’t believe in themselves and don’t feel worthy, it will fall flat.
In the next 3-5 years, I will be expanding my team, and hiring more coaches to help me support my clients in my year-long mentorship + training programs. I also plan to increase my capacity to give back. I want a portion of my revenue to be donated to efforts that improve the health and economic status of women and children around the world.
What are the key tools that you use for your trade?
- Many different models, templates, and strategies for business building and entrepreneurial success.
- Intuitive and energetic tools.
- Hypnotherapy and NLP.
What outlets do use to market Elixify Your Life?
Initially, I built my entire business in a very grassroots way, personal relationships and referrals, and via local events.
Now I offer both business training and transformative experiences online and in-person. I still use in-person events (Meetups, training events, and workshops, retreats) to connect with potential clients and create a way for to us get to know one another. I also use speaking at other events to spread the word.
Online I have a free Facebook group for coaches and healers who want to build their business together. I also use my Facebook business page to offer free trainings and resources, as well as instagram. Last, I use guest blog posts and podcast interviews to help share my message and my free resources.

What is the number 1 critical business lesson you have learned so far?
If you’re serious about your business, it’s crucial to invest in mentorship and masterminds. Your business WILL grow faster.
A highlight in your career so far?
The day I walked away from my toxic 9-5 job in my 40’s, and into my coaching business full time. It took me awhile to get there, but since that day I’ve never looked back!
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
Being of service, hands down. I also love teaching, facilitating, and mentoring (guess I’m in the right profession)!!
What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of your business?
Oh goodness, there have been many!
The biggest and most painful challenges have been my own fear, and working to cultivate the mindset and the resilience that has allowed me to succeed.
But I’ve had plenty of tangible failures in my business too. One example is that I spent a lot of time and money producing a virtual summit, and in the end, I lost money. There were some benefits (such as new relationships, and a lot of new subscribers on my list), but it had been one part of a year-long plan to fill my programs and grow my business and..it underperformed and really set me back on my goals.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
There are so many who I have studied and admired along the way! Chris Guillebeau who wrote ‘The Art Of Non-Conformity’ (and other books) was an early influencer on my entrepreneurial path. He really taught me that we don’t have to do things the way everyone else does them. Barbara Scher who wrote ‘Refuse to Choose,’ which helped me to understand my multi-passionate nature, and what to do with it. Brene Brown was also influential with her groundbreaking work on shame and vulnerability. Joe Dispenza’s work on how to reprogram our minds is amazing. Martha Beck has published some powerful books. Steve Chandler and Rich Litvin who wrote ‘The Prosperous Coach.’
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
‘You are a Badass at Making Money’ by Jen Sincero.‘Winning the Story Wars’ by Jonah Sachs and ‘Originals’ by Adam Grant.
Top 3 go-to Podcast channels?
Although I do like Podcasts, there aren’t any that I’m currently listening to on a consistent basis!
How do you define your own success?
Feeling a sense of inner freedom that comes from truly believing in myself.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
F,or me it’s about having permission to fully step into our power. To be authentic, compassionate leaders and visionaries in our own unique ways.
Finally, what are you working on throughout 2019?
Well, I am super excited because I’m launching my 3 day Sacred Business Accelerator event in San Diego on April 5-7. Then I will be offering my 6 month Sacred Business Mentorship + Training program starting in May 2019.
I’m also really inspired about some new collaborative joint ventures with fellow entrepreneurs that are developing this year. Finally, I plan to work on streamlining my systems, getting more consistent with content, growing my list and my community, and building my business with more ease! Putting more serious boundaries in place for more self care, quality time with friends and family, and of course, travel and adventure!!!
