Lacey Nagar is a confidence & visibility coach, author, and mentor helping women to increase their confidence and up-level their mindset to play full out for their dreams. She blends confidence, strategy, and mindset in all of her programs to help entrepreneurs bring in more clients and professionals land their dream job.
Hey Lacey, can you introduce yourself to us?
Hi, thanks for having me! I’m a Confidence & Visibility Coach for entrepreneurs and professionals. I love helping women show up, put themselves out there, understand their value, take up space, and unashamedly go after their goals and dreams.
Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?
My journey started when I was 12 years old. I was diagnosed with a chronic, progressive muscle disorder and given a harsh prognosis. That was when I first started putting my unshakable mindset into practice… 20 years before I even knew what “mindset” was.I decided I wasn’t going to believe what others said, that I could have a different outcome and that I would do whatever it took to make it happen.
With the diagnosis, though, I did start my personal attack on my body. I hated that it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to do and that it looked different. My self-esteem and confidence continued to decrease as I got older.
I started my coaching business in 2015 because I knew I wanted to help people who wanted to help themselves. I had worked as a case manager for many years and the hardest thing was wanting it more than my clients wanted it. I decided I wasn’t going to do that anymore and became a coach.
However, because of my confidence & self-esteem challenges, I was SUPER uncomfortable being seen and I couldn’t put myself out there at the beginning of my business. This led to me being broke and client-less for years (yes, years!)
Because the confidence and self-love work was what I had to focus on to turn it all around, I know how important it is. And I now focus on this in my work to help ladies increase their confidence, show up, and truly convey their value so they can bring in more clients or land the dream job.
How much research did you do on the market prior to launching Graceful Rising Coaching to understand your market?
Honestly not much. I knew I was going to make this work and just decided to go for it. But, once I got into it I started doing market research and actually still do ideal client interviews every 4-6 months in my business, constantly ask my community for feedback, and am always keeping a pulse on what it is my people need from me so that I can continue to create valuable content and offers.
What methods are you using through your life coaching programs to provide the confidence, strategy, and mindset tools needed to take your clients from uncomfortable in the spotlight to really putting themselves out there?
It’s a combination of confidence and mindset tools, tips, and coaching as well as the practical strategy around being visible and making offers.
They’re actually all very intertwined. For instance, many of my clients feel icky selling and are afraid of being pushy or aggressive. So, we work on the confidence to “sell” better, i.e. you have to be okay with hearing a “no” because most people will say it and it has nothing to do with you… you can’t take it personally.
We work on the strategy around selling better, i.e. what’s the conversation structure, how do you handle objections, do you have the means to take payment over the phone, and are you truly conveying the value of your program, product, or service.
And, of course, the mindset around selling better; i.e. how do you actually feel about receiving money and if someone says “no” are you going to give up or make another offer?
Who is the team behind you at Graceful rising Coaching?
I have a few amazing team members including a bookkeeper, a VA, and an OBM. Basically, everything that isn’t in my zone of genius or that I don’t want to do I hand off to someone who can do it better.
What is the assessment process like when taking on new clients?
I’m pretty picky about the clients I work with. I have an application form that needs to be filled out before I’ll get on the phone with someone and then we have a conversation to make sure it’s truly the best fit for both of us. I’m not trying to sell anything to anyone… I really take the time to figure out if I can help someone, and if not, I’ll refer them somewhere else.
I also need to know that the person I’m talking to is ready for change, knows they want a coach and is willing to make the investment in themselves- both time and money.
Where can you see yourself within the next 5 years?
Oh man. I have so many big dreams and goals for the next 5 years. It makes me so excited just to think about it! I want to move into speaking and doing more workshops. I would also like to have retreats both in my home and on a cruise ship (cruise retreats have been on my radar for years!).
I see myself working all over the world and helping women, especially, with their confidence, self-love, and mindset to create the most amazing life for themselves and their families/communities.
I would also love to host my own talk show where I interview coaches and entrepreneurs about how their confidence and mindset has been integral to their success. This is amazing, by the way, when you consider that I was terrified of doing a live video when I first started my business!
What outlets do use to promote Graceful Rising?
Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, referrals, and media outlets mostly.
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
Knowing that I’m making an impact. And that I have the freedom to do whatever the heck I want whenever I want. I make sure that I love my life and am enjoying my work every single day and that will continue to be true as the business grows.
What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of Graceful Rising Coaching?
I think one of the biggest challenges for me is handing off tasks. It’s hiring people to do what I “could” do but don’t really want to. It’s realising that I am not the only one who can do something correctly. Every time I hire an amazing team member it’s like a weight is lifted off my shoulders and I get to focus more on what I love to do.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
So many. I’m super into mindset work so I love people like John Assaraf, Paul Scheele, Carl Harvey, and Emily Williams. I’ve worked with some amazing coaches and mentors and am also really into books that help me shift my mindset. Marianne Williamson and Mike Dooley are a couple of my favourite authors.

How do you define your own success?
Success to me is making a difference, helping, and making an impact in the world. It’s also freedom. Do I have the time, money, and physical ability to do the things I want to do right now? If the answer is yes; I’m doing pretty good.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
To me, it means accepting yourself for who you are, being really okay with it, and loving yourself unconditionally. It means showing up in life as who you really are and doing what you were called here to do. Your unique gifts and your services may make others uncomfortable, heck, they might make you uncomfortable, but #beyourown means being able to show up authentically and do what you want to do, regardless.
Finally, what are you working on throughout 2019?
My word-of-the-year this year is “focused-commitment” (I cheated a little and created a phrase). Basically, I’m working on being super clear about my goals, focusing on them every day, and taking action until they manifest. I’ve had a habit of bouncing around and getting distracted by new, shiny ideas in the past. I’m allowing myself if only for a few months, to really focus and see what that creates in my business and life.
