Whether you’re feeling the inner niggles of your own internal awakening, sensing the rapid expansion of your soul self and feeling the pinching human fear because of it but you’re ready to boldly take the adventure. Or you’ve been denying your psychic, spiritual and intuitive nature knowing now is the time to really step into You and your own intuitive gifts and abilities, then this interview is a must read. Lauren Aletta is here to support you in connecting with your internal compass and teaching you how to understand and harness your own natural intuitive and energetic system so you can powerfully navigate your life.

Hey Lauren, can you introduce yourself to us?

I’m Lauren Aletta and I instantly feel a little awkward at not quite knowing where to start in introducing myself. I’m an Aussie girl who grew on the sunny Queensland which is on the east coast of Australia. I’m a solo parent to three wild and intelligent little people who are growing up and getting big incredibly fast! We also have a dog who thinks he’s human. We call him the fourth child. I’ve always been highly intuitive and perceptive.. since I was a little kid. As a teen, I would often see ghosts which were a little different.  I’m a multi-passionate individual who’s insanely curious about life. There are so many things that interest me that I’d need about 5 lifetimes in one to experience everything that lights me up. I’m a music addict. I adore words. I pretend to be a mermaid when I’m in the ocean. I sometimes snort when I laugh.  And I’m stupidly curious and playful.

Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?

My background is in youth work and family support. I When I lived remotely I worked with indigenous communities supporting and collaborating with the community and their individual and wider needs. It was humbly being welcomed into their local culture. Moving back to the city I worked with urban ATSI families. In all cases, from youth work to family support I found that if you asked the right questions and support the person to access their own internal knowledge they know exactly how to get from A to B and address any issues inhibiting them. Yet, red tape (and in my opinion) a social system that inadvertently perpetuates complex issues prevents people from stepping into their own empowerment. At the same time I was working in social services I was also doing intuitive readings at night through word of mouth. My phone number travelled from one stranger to the next and readings were done at my dining room table. It was kind of like living a double life!

After a little while, my inner guidance prompted me to quit my full-time job and start Inner Hue. I’ve always been highly perceptive and intuitive. As a child I saw, sensed and knew things other people weren’t as aware of. At times this was confounding and confusing. Occasionally a little frightening. I realised the more I ignored my intuition the more I became disconnected to myself and would experience periods of depression. And this was the same for everyone else!  I began to trust my inner guidance and what it was directing me towards despite it feeling a scary leaping into the unknown world of self-employment as a solo parent doing (of all things) spiritual/intuitive work!  I believe we all have an in-built soul based guidance system that communicates to us subtly through feeling, thought and sensation and when we pay attention and listen to it where guided deeply into our own unique purpose and alignment. So, that’s what I teach now – how to understand your intuition and energy system!

What is a day in the life of you like?

Every day is different! I mix it up with seeing clients in one on one sessions, or teaching group classes. I write a lot as part of teaching and expression, I think it’s a nice way to reach and connect with people without being intrusive. I also have a product arm to the business so I’m either in creation mode, creating and developing a new product or supporting Tia (product manager) with retail and wholesale orders.  The other thing that I’ve found really vital is connecting with other business owners who are navigating the biz world authentically and shaking up the old business paradigms. I’m also a mum, so I’m busy doing all the mum stuff too. Lunches, racing around to multiple sporting activities, doing the washing. Haha. You name it! If it’s got to be done, you juggle it! Every mother and woman does it.

What was the concept behind launching Inner Hue

I noticed a few years back that people were coming to me and expressing how they’re feeling really different internally. Successful men and women with thriving careers and relationships suddenly at odds within themselves, rendering them confused as to what was happening. What was happening was a consciousness shift. That person’s soul and consciousness were expanding and when that happens life often dramatically alters. There was (and still is) a momentum of people ’waking up’ and realising how malnourished and misaligned they are at a soul level. Material gains and box ticking was no longer fulfilling and they were being intuitively called to make deep changes in themselves and their life but they didn’t know how to either trust, interpret or understand their intuitive language. This is where I am able to support. My energetic and perceptive skills enable me to assist an individual in navigating their own connection to their intuition and internal guidance system. I wanted to create a ‘safe haven’ for people of all walks of life to be able to explore their deeper nature and soul because that’s what I needed when I was growing up.

From there everything just grew, I began to write and reach more people than those who just came to me for a session. I want to normalise intuition and educate about our unseen vibrational nature. It’s energetic anatomy! Intuition is our body and being interpreting waveforms that are coming from both our internal and external world and surroundings. When people begin to understand this more they trust themselves more. They become really empowered and lit up. It’s the most wonderful thing to be witness to!

How is Inner Hue funded, is it bootstrapped, self-funded ect?

It’s been self-funded the entire time. The income that flows through inner hue supports my family and is funnelled back into the running and product creation costs. It’s tight and stressful at times but when you have a vision and you trust yourself you just go for it!

Can you tell us more about your brand DNA and ethos at Inner Hue?

Inner Hue is both an extension of my own energy and an alive and living entity unto herself of whom I tend to and take instruction from. She (inner hue) guides and informs me as much as I guide and create her.

There are a few things that I feel are really important to inner hue’s brand. Authenticity is one. I am, and Inner Hue is really real. No flakey, ‘woo- woo’ spiritualism here. The soul adventure is raw, real and honest and that’s what you get within this space.

Quality. I deeply desire to create and serve generously and with quality. I want people to feel the love, car, and energy that goes into my creations and work. Whether it be in a one on one session or in a product, I want people to know they are being seen and heard and are receiving magic.

Education. We’re energetic beings having a physical experience. That’s not loving and light fluff, that’s science. We’re rapidly evolving as a human collective and species and we need to understand not only our physical nature but also our unseen vibrational nature, so I try to share what I know to help others.

Can you tell us how you are helping your clients to boldly take the next step of adventure?

It’s a unique process with every client but I would say it’s a combination of me allowing them to lead and take ownership over their own unfolding process as well as me tuning into their energy and energy field and asking the right questions. My job is to support the individual to ‘connect the dots’ and align. Significant shifts occur when the communication pathways between the layers of our being (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) are cleared.

The other part of my job is to support the person to come to trust themselves in a way they’ve not trusted themselves before. Socially we have been conditioned to trust authorities outside of ourselves and to abandon, deny or betray our own internal authority and knowledge. However, living in this way is distressing to our body and being and we disconnect from ourselves to manage. To reconnect with ourselves and light up we must increasingly trust and back ourselves which is not always easy to do when the current external systems and structures subtly but continually undermine us.

I work with people when they are within life transitions and growth periods, I work with people who recognise they’ve always been highly perceptive but they’ve denied it, I work with people when they’re developing their businesses or creating ‘soul based’ products. I do a range of things which is super fun. I’m ridiculously lucky.

Can you highlight 3 tips to help us tune in and harness our intuitive and energetic skills?

  1. Check-in and take time during the day to centre and take a breath and feel into what’s going on in your body and being. Pay attention to the feeling and sensation occurring within you and any repeated internal ‘whisper’ or prompt that you may be ignoring. Often it’s the small things we brush aside that are the most important.
  2. Get curious and explore what excites and feels good in your body and what does not as you move through your day. When do you feel open and expansive and when do you feel heavy and closed? Pay attention even to the kinds of thoughts you have and the way those thoughts leave you feeling.
  3. Align yourself, where are you in and out of alignment in yourself and life? Misalignment causes energetic ‘kinks’ in the communication pathways within your field and energy system. This means that intuitive prompts and unseen information about people/places/situations that could be supportive and useful for you in life navigation is not able to flow to you with ease. When you align your beliefs and actions and the internal and external world your intuition naturally heightens. Healing old hurts and trauma is also vital when wanting to open to your natural intuitive nature and step up into the next expression of you.

Who does the team involve behind you and Inner Hue?

I have an incredible little team and network of people who contribute to Inner Hue. Tia is the product manager and tends to a lot of functional business admin stuff. Tegan is the incredible graphic designer and illustration whom I work closely with when I’m creating some magic! Lynda steps in when it comes to finances and all the numbers work. And Alana is the amazing tech strategist. Everyone bar Tia is subcontractors whom I’ve developed a strong relationship and trust with over the years that I now consider a part of the Inner Hue team.

Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?

Ohh. that’s a big question. I have a huge vision for what I’d like to bring to life and create within and through Inner Hue but I sort of want to keep it quiet. You know, just plod away doing the work and see what happens. Sounds very secretive, doesn’t it! I don’t mean for it to be. I think it’s important to hold the vision and intention you have whilst at the same time be grounded and in the trenches doing the work. You never really quite know where you’ll end up. So I’m just going to keep quiet and turn up to the work.  Wink.

What strategies do you have in place when looking at the expansion of Inner Hue?

Honestly, none right now. What I seem to do is get the next step and then implement. When I am implementing the strategies and systems come. That’s probably not very polished and professional but it’s the truth. I want to grow at the rate that’s manageable. Running a business that is armed with a big vision means I have to be upgrading and expanding at the same rate and level my business is. It’s not just about business expansion.

Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?

Systems and numbers. I need help in creating and implementing systems so things can run smoothly. Once the systems are in place I can manage it. But my skill area isn’t in knowing what systems to implement where. I’m also not great at actively marketing. I get very shy and don’t want to be preachy or force my creations or thoughts on to people. I’d rather be a little more low key.

Have you ever had any other mentor? If so how has this benefitted you to grow?

Years ago I worked with Tara Bliss who’s an incredible women’s leader and advocate for women’s empowerment and autonomy. And after a couple of years of not working with a mentor, I’m again on the lookout for one! In saying that, I seem to be wired in a way sees many people in my life as role models. From past to present global leaders to the elderly stranger I speak to at the bus stop. I think if we’re aware, life guides and teaches.

What outlets do use to market Inner Hue?

Inner Hue has been really organic. I’ve tried to create exceptional products and turn up and do my best work trusting that this will speak for itself. I am more about reaching an aligned community rather than masses. In saying that, social media has been the main marketing tool.

Which methods are you using to build your own support network?

Connecting with other business owners and creatives in a way that supports both the practical and emotionally side of the business. Since starting Inner Hue I’ve met the most incredible bunch of people from a diverse arrange of industries from hospitality and marketing to jewellery making and fitness. And while these networks are so diverse they’re at a grassroots level also really similar, they’re run by authentic, passionate people who a have vision they’re implementing. So no matter the industry or background, when this is the foundation we can connect and help each other out. And thank god for that! Because when you’re doing something you’ve never done before, community and support is everything. You are all helping each other (including your clients/customers) up! It’s the best!

What do you believe are the common misconceptions about intuition and energy and how are you using your platform and voice to educate people more?

The main misconception is that intuition is ‘woo-woo’ when really it’s science. I think if we were supported to understand our intuitive and energetic nature we’d be making different daily decisions about our life, businesses, economics, health, environment, social systems.. etc. To be able to have an opportunity to educate and potentially influence how we relate to ourselves and the world around us is exciting for me. Curiosity and dynamic change are required for us right now on Earth, that’s just the reality of it.

What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?

Good question. I’m not sure. I think there is a growing trend where millennials are feeling called to simplify and speak up. They’re questioning, protesting and re-writing the outdated patriarchal systems that have and continue to dehumanise and disenfranchise people, animals and environment all for power and economics. But it’s not really working for us, is it?

Ultimately. I mean, we’re at the 11th hour here on earth. And so there’s this shift, a movement in collective thought rooted into our reorganisation of our collective values going on where every day people are saying no to all sorts of things that are harmful. The power scales are slowly but surely tipping and I’d like for us all to stay open to this. It’s very easy, dare I say it comfortable and lazy to stay entrenched in dysfunction. But I’d love to see our governing bodies throughout the world move with this shift.

What is the best piece of business advice you have received to date?

Honestly, it was something my grandfather said to me when I was 5 or 6 years old. He himself was a successful businessman who built a thriving community and life. He said to me, holding my hand at five, “Lauren, do what you love and are passionate about for a living. Everything flows from there.” I think this has been true, for me at least so far. Doing something you love what gets you through the difficult times. It’s also what you appreciate in the good times. When you do what you love people feel your truth and integrity and this holds weight and worth.

What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?

Create boundaries. Running a business, especially one that you’re passionate about will mean at times hard work, long hours, lots of energy, effort, and giving. You have to create your own boundaries to be able to thrive on your terms. How do you want to feel? What is right for you? How do you want to work? What is a successful day for you? And then what do you need to put in place to safeguard and honour these things?

When you have no boundaries you have no structure and strength. You’re like a leaf in the wind blowing around tending to everyone and everything and not what’s right and important to you. That’s a sure fire way to burning out. When you’re health is gone it’s a long road to recovery.

How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?

Oh, the elusive balanced work and personal life. Look, I think this is a misconception. I think it’s an ebb and flow with a little juggling and twerking! And it’s different for everyone at different stages of their life. We are continually evolving. When you work out your priorities and what’s meaningful and valuable to you inclusive of both your work and personal life your decisions and actions will reflect this.

A seminal point in your career so far?

I think landing the book contract last year with the US publishers Chronicle. The book comes out next March which is super exciting.

What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?

Seeing clients and people within the Inner Hue Village thrive. To witness and be a small part of someone’s transformation and expansion is incredibly humbling and rewarding. There is nothing more special than being witness to a person light up and rock their unique kind of magic.

What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of Inner Hue?

Well, I was a novice in every way when I started Inner Hue as I hadn’t ever run a business before. Nor create and produced a product. But a couple of things come to mind when things expanded quite rapidly I was still trying to do everything, from seeing clients, to writing content, creating products and answering emails. While I have to oversee all aspects of inner hue I have now outsourced.

The other area of the challenge has been in manufacturing. I’ve again not had any experience or knowledge about printing and manufacturing and all that comes with it. So that’s been a huge learning curb too of trial and error.

Running a business means you have to assert yourself sometimes and take risks. It also means knowing when to pick your battles and how to delegate and prioritise. Especially if you have a family.

Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?

Jameela Jamil is an incredible pioneer and advocate for change in so many areas. She’s really opening the conversation up to unpack patriarchal narratives running thick through many of our collective systems and structures.

Rachel Cargle is an incredible change agent, educator, and healer who’s unpacking White Feminism and healing for black children and women. Esther Perel, Elizabeth Gilbert, Brene Brown, Terrance McKenna, David Icke. Then there’s all of the creatives and business’s I work alongside who are kicking goals and paving the way forward.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

I don’t think I’ve managed to read one book all year. Isn’t that sad? I’ve read segments of multiple books but I haven’t read a complete book this year.

Top 3 go-to Podcast channels?

  1. ‘Mastin Kipp.’
  2. ‘The School of Greatness.’
  3. ‘Waking Up, Love.’

In saying that, I don’t listen to podcasts all that often. I listen to tunes! Music is my lifeblood. It heals, supports, energises and strengthens me.

How do you define success?

I think I would ultimately say, feeling happy in my heart, to have my children thriving and to be contributing to something (I believe is) larger than myself. No matter what else happens these are the things that are precious to me.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

Be your own person. Go your own way. Walk your own path. Be true to you. Now and always.

Finally, What can we expect from you and Inner Hue?

Expect to be introduced to ideas, thoughts, and information that may sit outside your current paradigm. There is MASS about of life that sits outside the light spectrum we can see with our physical eyes. We are 100% not here alone. Expect realness and rawness. Expect more creations.
