Welcome Martha, thank you for taking your time with us, can you introduce yourself to us?

I’m Martha Ramos, founder of Chicas & Cocktails, a life coach, confidence builder and motivational speaker.

Can you talk us through the path you have pathed to where you are now as a life coach and motivational speaker?

Absolutely! There are 3 major challenges I endured and used as growing pains, which led to my own transformation in creating a better life for myself. First, in elementary school, I once had a teacher say, “the most you’ll ever be is a housekeeper.” Little did I know at the time, as an immigrant and person of colour, I was being discriminated against. However, in her defence, back in the 1980s the opportunities for Latinas were slim. Luckily, I always wanted more for myself and knew deep down I was capable of making it happen.

Second, due to unfortunate circumstances, I was 16 years old when my parents decided to move back to the Dominican Republic of which I became emancipated so I can continue my education in the U.S. Because I knew that moving back to my native country would diminish my opportunities in the future.

Lastly, after 12 years of working in corporate America as an advertising executive, I was laid off. And, even though I had reached a point in my career where I was extremely unhappy and uninspired I felt stuck. I had no idea what I wanted to do and had lost total confidence in myself and my abilities. I knew deep down I had more to offer. So, I chose to use it as an opportunity to grow and connect with myself on a deeper level. And, after months of soul searching and divine guidance, I embarked on a life long dream of becoming my own boss.

What sparked your interest to work within the life coaching field?

I’ve always been curious about human potential and how some people spend their lives not maximising it for whatever reason. I used to ask my mom all the time, why wouldn’t he/she want to progress, make their lives better?

Now, based on my own journey, I feel empowered to help people see what’s possible for them so they can create a better life for themselves. I believe you are your most powerful asset and your choices define you far more than your circumstances. However, most people stay stuck in self-doubt, fear and uncertainty, which prevents them from stepping outside the box to create a life they love.

How are you helping to maximise your clients potential whilst guiding through a journey of transformational growth?

I believe that when you are clear on who you are, what you stand for and what you want, you’re more likely to make choices that work best for you. Therefore, I support ambitious women paralysed by fear and doubt learn how to get out of their own way so they can feel empowered to build a life they crave and control their earning potential.

What methods are you using to encourage personal freedom & fulfilment?

I believe in the power of your intuition and imagination to help define your path to personal freedom and fulfilment. With a mix of practical & spiritual tools/techniques, I help clients get clear on what they truly want, conquer any challenges/limiting beliefs holding them back, and commit to the process, so they can experience a life with a greater sense of clarity, freedom, and joy.

What avenues are you exploring to promote your coaching services to bring new clients on board?

Social media, specifically Instagram & Facebook, LinkedIn and networking via other entrepreneurs, family, friends and live events.

What is your most favoured aspect of working within the coaching industry?

The freedom to choose who I want to work with and when.

How do you define your own success?

It’s taken me a while to shift from defining success based on someone else’s expectations and or definition to feeling more confident and empowered to define it on what matters most to me. And, no matter how many times I get knocked down or experience setbacks, it’s making sure I keep moving forward and enjoying the process that counts.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

It means being courageous enough to step outside the box and show up confidently to live life on my own terms.

Finally, what are you working on?

Even though 2020 has thrown our “normality” out the window, I’m excited about all the new projects and opportunities The Universe has bestowed on me. I just wrapped up my very first online global summit called BE THE CEO, which reached 42 countries.

Currently, I’m working on a collaboration called 2020 Impact movement with a group of Fierce women where we’re helping 2,020 women pick up the pieces during a global pandemic so they can step into the powerhouse women they were born to be. Also, I’m working on a social justice mission where we’re leading the change in providing legal access to masses. And lastly, I’d love to launch a podcast.
