Hey Natalie, can you introduce yourself to us?
I am the founder of Holistic World, curator & co-founder of The Wellness Market and co-founder of Luna Wellness Retreats (a more new venture). I love community and connection, I believe that is what is needed most in the world right now.
Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?
It really began when I was younger and being categorised as ‘sensitive’. Growing up, that was a negative word thrown around by my peers, it was something I shamed myself for until I grew up, and realised it was my greatest strength. I believe it is everyone’s greatest strength when channelled and used appropriately. Once you learn how to do that and master it, you become a thriving force. In my early twenties, I immersed myself in the arts of authenticity, intuitiveness, the mysteries of life and this carried me through my University years. In University, I studied Public Relations, Media & Broadcasting, although studying these arts was always in the background-my community would even come to me for advice & counselling. By the time University was coming to a close, I was offered a position at one of Toronto’s best PR Firms- this was the moment I decided to take charge of my life and do what I love. I went back to college to study in an intensive program and there was no stopping me after that. I founded Holistic World as soon as I was done in 2016. One thing led to another and my business has grown into what it is today, through trial and error of course. It’s still morphing and developing which is what I love most right now.
What is a day in the life of you like?
I love routine, it really helps me thrive. I start my mornings with writing in two different books, a Success Journal, and a Goals Journal. The success journal is moments I have already been successful, the journal begins from when I was born until now. Whenever I doubt myself, I read that book, it is immensely powerful. The goals journal is really about what comes in the future and goals I am working to achieve. Its really all about manifesting through writing. I make my mornings very sacred, almost like a prayer to keep me grounded and focused.
After this, I start tackling the work needed to get done that day and attend any meetings in the afternoon. There are breaks in there for self-care, it ranges from working out to walking or listing to a podcast. When I’m driving around the city in the car, I am listening to audiobooks, podcasts and sometimes chatting to my family or friends (I come from a close-knit family so that support is necessary for me to thrive as well). At night is usually when I spend time with my husband and take care of any ‘human’ things, like grocery shopping or meal prepping.
How did you launch Holistic World?
It really started as an Instagram account where I expressed myself. I felt I had so much knowledge to share to help people further than my one-one private practice. I had an idea of where I wanted my business to end up, and it totally took off with a mind of its own! Haha! Yet, it’s been amazing to be guided by my community as to what they need and how I can provide more value every year.
Can you talk to us about how you are helping women to deepen their relationship with the meaning of life and all the mysteries that come with it?
Yes, one of my favourite topics! I work closely with women to help them rediscover their intuitiveness or ‘sensitive’ side. We work on practising how to tune into that layer within them and bring it out into the world. Then it comes down to practice and trust, practising and trusting their wisdom, connecting with their inner authentic self and striving for empowerment into all areas of their life. Since women carry life itself, we have the ability to nurture and discover the mysteries of life. This allows women to understand themselves on a deeper level and gain an understanding of themselves, their world around them and how they are in complete control of what world/life they want to live. This then trickles into our close relationships, careers, and experiences.
Can explain the ‘Chakra and Energetic Assessment’?
It begins with going through a Chakra Checklist together. This takes around 30-40mins where we dive into each Chakra and it’s a physical connection to the body. After this is complete, the client lays on the massage table and I begin to assess their Energetic Field. It’s a very relaxing experience for the client and myself. It’s one of my favourite things to do. We then sit down, chat about the findings and develop practices to incorporate into everyday life to help bring balance to the Charka/Energy system.
How are you helping women to expand their natural intuitive abilities and find the truth?
I do this in multiple ways. The first is through Sacred Women Circles where women gather together, grow as a group, share and nurture our insight. This also comes through my private one-on-one practice where we will do a combination of Spiritual Counselling, Chakra/Energetic Assessments, and Reiki. I do this through my 2 month Online Course as well, this is more intense as we work closely together for 8 weeks and it’s specifically designed for entrepreneurial women. Lastly, I host women’s retreats in different parts of the world for a deep, transformative experience— I believe a change of scenery is highly, highly effective!
Can you give us 3 tips on how we can manifest effectively?
It’s really quite simple- be clear, be direct, be specific.
- The clarity in your words is very important when manifesting, for example, instead of saying “I want to achieve the goal of love in my life,” you just asked for always wanting to have love in your life. Here’s what is more clear, “I am open to receiving love in my life”, do you see the difference?
- Direct is all about timing. When you are manifesting, most often we forget to or are too shy to ask for when. When do you wish to see this in your life? Be realistic with timing and your goals. Be patient. Sometimes it happens sooner, sometimes it happens later. Accept what comes your way and sometimes something better comes knocking on your door. Be open to receiving it.
- Specify who you are, sign it, date it and seal it with a kiss!
Who does the team involve behind you at Holistic World?
My team is really small, yet incredibly effective. They are very good at what they do and have the same values as I do which I find important when building something with other people. One team member helps with my business strategies, social media, events, and networking. The others give overall guidance on how to bridge everything into one working unit. And the others are co-founders of smaller business I am a part of and they just so happen to be friends of mine for the past 15 years.
Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?
This is a great question! I really see myself immersed more deeply into my work, perhaps taking more courses to renew my knowledge and hosting annual retreats in Hawaii for the entrepreneurial women who take my Online Program (of course it’s open to all women looking to connect)! My door is never closed to women in search of change, transformation or empowerment. I have thoughts of writing a book, something that has been lingering in my mind for a while now. I also see myself having a family, another goal I wish to successfully accomplish!
What strategies do you have in place when looking at the expansion of Holistic World?
Strategies are staying in my lane and becoming more of an expert in my field. I am growing my presence on Social Media by providing as much value as I can through my platform, which I feel is a positive force as my business grows. Collaboration is also a strategy I love working with- it’s a great way to meet amazing people and bridge communities together to bring more to health, love & wellness to people! I also plan on writing a book soon. I can feel it coming in my bones! (Thank you sensitivity!)
Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?
I think time management. It is something I had to work on very diligently to strengthen and overcome, I am still working on this daily. I have struggled with worthiness, mostly at the beginning of starting Holistic World. I really had to dig deep and figure out where that was coming from, heal that part of me and strengthen myself from there. It was a tough journey, yet such a rewarding one. Which is why I help women do the same in my business. Also, taking on too much. I do believe anything is possible yet sometimes my humanness can hold me back!-meaning time, sleep, eating, having fun etc. I get so excited to live life to the fullest that I forget to breathe! I’ve always been that way. It’s a blessing and a curse so to speak.
Have you ever had any other mentor? If so how has this benefitted you to grow?
I have had several mentors all which have come into my life at different times for different reasons. They’ve helped my growth immensely and I would not be where I am today without each of them. I honour them almost every day. I also believe I will have more mentors as I get older.
What outlets do use to market Holistic World?
I used Instagram, Facebook, word of mouth and collaboration. It keeps things simple yet effective.
Which methods are you using to build your own support network?
My own support network comes building a community, this is mostly done through The Wellness Market and social media. I believe bringing like-minded people into one space is beautiful and full of opportunity for everyone involved- attendees, collaborators, and curators.
What do you believe are the common misconceptions about being an entrepreneur?
That you’ll have more time for you and there is less stress. Your business never sleeps and you have more responsibly to the people connected to it. You need to be there for your business and your clients all while ensuring you are taking care of yourself so you can show up at your best every time.
What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?
I would like to see millennials embracing what sets them apart from the crowd and let that drive their career and future. I think we are really good at collaboration and brilliant ideas for success. Yet we just need the focus, determination, and heart to see it through to the end. It’s all about believing in yourself! No comparing to others, just see how great you already are and operate from there.
What is the best piece of business advice you have received to date?
Be honest and stay in your lane. Become an expert in your field and stay true to yourself. Those words have really carried me throughout my journey.
What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?
Do not push people or situations that aren’t ready. Have patience and bless them with their journey.
How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?
It’s all about time management and working with the elements around me. Knowing myself and what times of day my productivity levels are high and low and working with those. Ensuring I drink plenty of water, eat a balanced diet with quality sleep & self-love mixed in. More recently it’s been about getting myself a business phone because social media is usually on my phone, I need to be able to turn off the world to social media while still having access to my family and friends.
The highlight of your career so far?
The Wellness Market and when I hosted my first women’s retreat. Those have been surreal to see come to life!
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
When I accomplish something I set out on doing and seeing amazing women thrive from it. I love working closely with women to heal what needs healing and empower them to achieve their dreams & aspirations.
What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of your business?
I have seen challenges in going at it alone at the beginning. It really improved when I started collaborating with others and trusting others to get the job done. Also becoming resilient towards having consistency, as consistency is key.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
I really love Arianna Huffington, J.K. Rowling, Lady Gaga and Sophia Amoruso.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
‘The War Of Art’ by Steven Pressfield.
How do you measure your own terms of success?
I measure it based on my levels of happiness and humbleness. Everything else is really a bonus.
Lastly, what is next for you?
I will be growing the retreating side of my business and seeing where that takes me. Alongside taking The Wellness Market to the next level, possibly write a book and look towards hosting bigger weekend retreats/conferences in Toronto and or different cities! Time will tell, I’m excited to see where everything will lead me.
