#BEYOUROWN MEETS NAZREEN ZAMAN

Meet entrepreneur Nazreen Zaman, who shows women how to create the life and business they desire so they can flourish on purpose. Whilst being a hands-on mum of two and wife, the in-demand business coach dedicates her in-between time helping other women to build the business and life they want through the programmes and course she designed. Prior to leaving her corporate job back in 2016 to grow her business whilst raising a family, Nazreen graduated and worked as a nurse to patients with severe learning disabilities and supporting those with mental health issues. We discuss how her passion for self-development and the human psychology lead her to launch her business into the marketplace successfully through social media alone.

Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?

First of all, thank you for creating a platform as of BEYOUROWN and inviting me to be part of your community. I was on maternity leave, around March 2013 when I had an idea to work from home, I started my entrepreneurship journey from that one decision, I didn’t want to go back to work, I felt I needed to be home with both my children, I was tired of rushing my days and hardly seeing my oldest child. I started that business just by searching for some wholesalers on the internet. That didn’t go well, I didn’t have any business skills or a mentor to guide me and I lost around £5,000.

I then joined a Multi-level marketing company ( MLM) company and I had some results from the weight loss programme and so I started to promote that, the business initially did okay, then plateaued a year later, now by then we’re talking 2 years of failing and I was back at my job, luckily part-time. In February 2015, I invested in my skills, became a student and started to learn the core skills of business, leadership, marketing and sales. It was a long process of making mistakes, failing and getting back up. I was eager enough and curious enough to stay through the process, something had to come good of all of this, I always remembered the moment the idea came to me, I felt it was my inner guidance because I always said to myself “I would never go into business, business is not for me.”

I had my first real success in the autumn of 2016, and then it just continued to grow, some momentum came in, I was hitting my sales targets in the company that I was affiliated with, I went to Austin Texas twice and picked up a leadership award in 2017. It was going as planned, and then reality kicked in, I was working my way to financial success, but I neglected my health, I neglected my family, whom I started this for in the first place, money didn’t excite me anymore because I was burnt out. I felt like I became an employee of my own business. I remember a time when I was doing a prospecting call and the lady signed up to the offer and I wasn’t happy anymore, the money didn’t excite me. I almost told her to join someone else!

That was it, I took some time out, I continued to work with my current customers but sign up new people, I had to figure out what was going on. After working with coaches and seeking guidance from my spiritual mentor, I worked on myself, really went within.

I  wrote and drew out my life and business, and asked myself specific questions to design my business. How I wanted it to look like, I became more conscious of what I wanted in my life and business, what type of customers and coaching members I wanted to work with, how did I want my day to look like? How did I want my health to be, my family and relationships to be, my spiritual health and who is the real Nazreen.

I started to create the business and life I wanted, consciously, that’s when Flourish on purpose was launched. I lead with the values of Flourish on purpose in any business venture or project I take upon, creating my brand was the best thing I did in my business.

What is a day in the life of you like?

I am a mum so every day is not the same depending on the children, but typically, my day starts just before sunrise, or the latest 5.30am, I start my morning routine, morning prayer, 10 minute meditation, rebounding exercise, writing out my goals and journaling, then reading a book or podcast while I have my breakfast, and do 1 of my 3 tasks for the day, by 7:45am I am out of the office and getting the girls ready for school.

After the school run, I’ll resume my work day, mornings usually consists of creating content and marketing, speaking to my virtual assistant, I’ll take a break with my husband and may have a nap if I need one, then back into the office and I take calls from 1pm-3pm, before the pick up school run, I’ll do a routine to prepare for the children and leave by 3:20pm. I may spend another 1-2 hours in the evening to catch up on work, responding to messages or emails at this time, while the children are playing or in Arabic class, Or go out with hubby, it a depends. Once the kids are in bed, that is my time to do some meditation and I finish my day with an evening routine.

How did you launch your business?

I was promoting other people’s products, which I still would do, but I learnt what I liked doing and where my passion was, I was passionate about self-development, about the human psychology,  I would be concerned when I heard a customer or member would neglect their health or family to make money. I realised when I was burnt out in business that many other women are too, and many that I don’t even know yet. Most people have come into the business from an employee background, we could get away with feeling miserable but still get our job done so long we have a smile on our face, business and especially online business needs creativity to grow, we need to be in a peak or high emotional state to create. My business was launched after seeing the pain in the marketplace. I launched using social media first and then rebranded my website.

Can you tell us how you are helping women to create the life and business they want in order to flourish?

I educate women who are looking to make the transition from being an employee to an entrepreneur. I show them what they need to do to make the transition smooth, and launch their business. I show them how to increase their self- awareness so they use the law of attraction to their advantage. I coach them to brand themselves and create a marketing profit plan that they follow to get their business into profit while looking after their health/fitness, family/relationship, spiritual health and self-development via coaching programmes and courses.

Who does the team involve behind you?

I have a virtual assistant who does the technical side of my marketing.

Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?

Through the courses, coaching programmes, events and workshops, I want Flourish on purpose to be the number go to place for women who are looking for more in life.

How are you planning to expand?

We are increasing automated marketing, using the current available strategies to attract more people so we can serve more. We will be launching live workshops and events by 2019, starting with Ignite event in Bath April 11th-13th 2019.

Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?

There were so many, my first struggle was creating automated funnels, and emails, launching a blog website, learning new tech. skills.

I was a nurse, and I never used my laptop until I started online marketing, so there was a lot to learn and I was not technical at all. There were times when I wanted to quit because I couldn’t post a blog post. I was super shy, so prospecting strangers on Facebook was hard, I struggled to do videos at first. My first video took me hours to record and upload, I was really self-critical. Nothing was good enough.

Have you ever had any other mentor? If so how has this benefitted you to grow?

I have a spiritual guide/mentor who I still have in my life, I grew from within and that is needed in business and life, I dedicate all my success to my mentor. I have had coaches to learn marketing, mindset reprogramming, and branding. The times when I invested in myself, I saw a return on investment. Mentor or coaches are needed to speed up your journey.

What outlets do use to market yourself?

I use Facebook, blogging, YouTube and gradually I’ll be expanding to Pinterest.

Which methods are you using to build your own support network?

I have friends who are entrepreneurs, changing my social circle was a must. You are the average of the 5 people you hang out with. It’s true!

What do you believe are the common misconceptions about being an entrepreneur?

That it is easy and a quick rich thing, being an entrepreneur you have to be okay with failing, because you will fail more than the number of successes you get.

What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?

I would like the emphasis on spiritual growth and toughness to come back, millennials, and me included have been brought up in with a microwave mentality, we don’t have enough patience and because in the west, we have so much ease and convenience we don’t have the mental toughness needed, the ability to be patient and take action even when you don’t want to is needed.

What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?

Be patient, it’s on its way.

What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?

Always bring in joy, look for things to be grateful for. Embrace the struggle.

How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?

I work on being present and increasing the quality of my time spent in both areas in personal and business life. I check myself, am I really present or is my mind elsewhere. So even if I have a few minutes I make sure I am fully present, then I feel I’ve spent hours with them.

The highlight of your career so far?

Having my own breakthrough and launching Flourish on purpose, being invited to speak at events and to do training for entrepreneurs, it’s been a privilege to be named alongside some amazing trainers who have been in business longer than me.

What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?

Seeing my clients in joy, it gets me emotional thinking about it right now. Seeing them create the business and life they want! When I see then sigh relief! That brings me satisfaction.

What barriers have you faced whilst building your business?

Lack of technical skills, no business skill when I first came online, most of my barriers were created by myself.

Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?

I admire Brendon Burchard, he has made a huge impact on people through his work, he shares the real side of business and becoming a high performer, what it really entails and shows up day in day out.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

‘High-Performance Habits’ by Brendon Burchard, ‘The Magic’ by Rhonda Byrne and ‘Unleash The Power Within’ by Tony Robbins.

What does your Podcast playlist look like?

Amy Porterfield’s, ‘Online Marketing Made Easy’ podcast, ‘The Brendon Show’ by Brendon Burchard and MLSP.

How do you measure your own terms of success?

I measure my success by measuring my emotional vibration, if I am living in gratitude and in joy for the biggest part of my day, that is “success” to me. When I’m in joy, I can figure anything out.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

#BEYOUROWN to means, be yourself, create your own story without looking at other people (who don’t matter to you) opinions. The true people will follow and support you.

Lastly, what is next for you?

Next for me is launching a health and fitness coaching programme alongside the current marketing and sales programme. The fitness programme will show women how to consciously lose and maintain their ideal weight.
