#BEYOUROWN MEETS SAMANTHA GOLBA

Samantha Golba is an energetic, powerhouse coach and speaker. She believes the purpose of all life is growth, and when you focus on personal growth you create your family, business, finances, health, and confidence into the life you are capable of living.

Samantha specialises in leadership, confidence, and mindset, and has coached hundreds of women in creating transformation in their business and relationships. Sam found her passion for personal development by convincing her self to do one more push up than she thought she could, which lead her to ask the question, “if I can do one more push up than I thought I could, what else can I do.” From there, she went on a deep study into the habits of successful people and later became certified as a John Maxwell coach and speaker. Sam works with her clients through virtual training, one on one coaching, and speaking engagements!

Welcome Samantha, thank you for taking your time with us, can you introduce yourself to us?

My name is Sam and I am the founder of Slay with Sam. I have been in the personal development industry for the past 6 years and am a Certified John Maxwell Leadership coach, speaker, and trainer. As a success coach, I help women get unstuck and show up powerfully in their life. I love working with high performing women who want to have it all.

They want to be a #girlboss, rock their relationship, be present for their family, all while taking care of themselves mind, body, and soul. I believe we have such a strong need for leadership right now and I am on a mission to help women rise up and create new leadership environments in the workplace and at home.

Can you talk us through the path you have pathed to where you are now as a speaker and powerhouse coach?

I’ve always been a hardworking and competitive person. I can remember back to the summer before my senior year of high school when I was working three jobs and barely got to see my friends because I was so busy and I loved being busy and seeing the reward of my paychecks! Eventually, I fell into a very low point where I wasn’t doing anything and I didn’t have a plan for life. I wasn’t going to school, I wasn’t working, I was laying in bed in a dark room all day waiting for my boyfriend at the time to come home from work late at night. I remember feeling so stuck and thinking, “this is it. this is what my life is going to look like.” It was like I was accepting it, even though deep down I knew something wasn’t right because that was so far from my normal. There was one day I saw a girl posting her at home workouts and since I was so bored from not doing anything, I decided to join her. These at-home workouts became my new purpose. There was one specific day that changed the game for me. I was doing pushups and the trainer was saying “keep going, don’t quit, keep going.” and at the point, I somehow convinced myself to do one more push up that I thought I could do. It was an instant aha moment for me. I thought, “If I’m holding myself back from doing one more push up, what else am I holding myself back from in my life.” It was then that I become obsessed with studying the lives of successful people. How they defined success, how they dealt with failure, what their daily habits were. I then took common denominators and then applied them in my life.

What sparked your interest in coaching?

Experiencing and getting through my own personal struggles and knowing there were other women out there struggling with the same things is what really sparked my interest in coaching. I became aware at a very young age how much I lost myself in a relationship and didn’t really know who I was anymore. I realised how many other women go through this whether it’s losing yourself in a relationship, a job, motherhood, or simply just the validation from other people.

This is especially true for people pleasers who enjoy serving, helping people, try to please everyone and make everyone happy, or are multifaceted and easily step into many roles. While this is a great quality to have, it’s easy to put yourself on the back burner which always leads to being burnt out and feeling like YOU don’t matter. I have found you can not give what you do not have, so by working on myself I have found I am better able to serve and show up powerfully for other people which I ultimately love to do. Now through coaching, I get the rewards and satisfaction of helping other women do the same!

How are you helping women bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be?

I coach women 1:1 or through my virtual course. I help them gain clarity on what they want, confidence in who they are and what they have to offer and develop the habits to do consistently to bridge the gap.

Can you give us 3 strong tips on creating clarity, confidence, and consistency within our life?

  1. Be spontaneously you. Being yourself is the biggest asset you have in your life.
  2. Believe in yourself even when you’re the only one who does. No one can see your vision like you. Everything you want in your life is possible if you can just trust yourself and go for it.
  3. If you choose to do what’s comfortable and easy now, you will have it hard and be uncomfortable later. If you choose to do what’s hard and inconvenient now, you will reach a level you can’t even comprehend yet! Choose to do the things based on how you want to feel ultimately rather than for immediate satisfaction.

Where can you see yourself within the next 5 years and how are you planning to grow Slay With Sam?

Within the next 5 years, I will be hosting personal development retreats where I take women who want to really take a deep dive into who they are and their purpose in life. I plan on growing Slay With Sam by continuing to create content that connects with women on each level and area and giving them the tools they need to step into their power.

What avenues are you exploring to promote your Slay With Sam Power Masterclass?

I am promoting my Power Masterclass on social media (Facebook, Instagram) and by connecting with women who are leading a team and hosting free webinar training for them.

What is your most favoured aspect of working within the coaching industry?

My most favoured aspect of working within the coaching industry is working with my 1:1 client. It is so rewarding to see them break away from negative beliefs, realise what they are capable of, and ultimately step into their power.

What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth Slay With Sam?

The biggest challenge I have faced is the lack of support from those around me. I have a very supportive family, but a few other relationships close to me were very uncertain about what I was doing when I first started. What I have found is that anytime you do anything different or against the grain, the closest to you will often be the most skeptical. They are afraid they will lose you or they don’t want to see you fail. Most of the time they are just unintentionally casting their insecurities and self-doubt onto you. Whenever you feel like the people closest to you do not support you, it’s very easy to begin to doubt yourself. This gave me the opportunity to dive deep and create unshakable confidence in who I am and what stands for regardless of any negative feedback I receive!

How do you define your own success?

I believe the purpose of life is growth and when things are not progressing that’s when we feel frustrated, stuck, or bored. I measure success by being happy with all key areas of my life; Family, relationships, business, finances, health, and self. You will never arrive at a place where everything in your life is perfectly balanced and good. There will always be ups and downs in every area, but I think the fun is in the journey of trying to maintain growth in each one! I am a woman who wants to have it all and I will do just that and help other women have the same.

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

#BEYOUROWN  means being the most authentic version of you. It’s easy to try to fit in, but why do that when your power is in standing out? YOU are your biggest asset and that is something else no one else can offer. There will always be other people who do the same or similar things as you. Trusting yourself and being yourself are the key things that will take you from being average to exceptional.

Finally, what are you working on throughout 2019?

Throughout 2019 I am working on getting more of my work in the hands of women who need it through my 1:1 coaching, virtual courses, and speaking engagements. I want to help more women step into their power and create the life they are capable of living!
