#BEYOUROWN MEETS NARJISSE AMMOR
Narjisse Ammor is the founder of the blog “Narjisse Ammor” in May 2015. Living in Paris and having Moroccan origins, she is a young woman who wants to reach a goal, who wants to realise her greatest dreams. With a passion for singing & expressing herself, she’s aiming to combine it all online.
Hows it going Narjisse?
I always try to say that I’m fine whether there are ups and downs. Lessons are often learned from bad experiences and we make the most of good times. Therefore, I can say that I am doing excellently.
Let’s start off with a little bit about you and your background first?
I have always loved fashion, creativity and combining different colors, pieces to find the ideal outfit. My mother used to say that I was a coquette, that I was getting ready when I woke up even though I was only 6 years old.
I’ve always consulted fashion magazines, kept up to date with the latest trends and watched fashion shows. Moreover, I have a passion for drawing with a pencil, so I worked out sketches of clothes models.
My family owns a fabric shop in Morocco, every summer I go there and I take a huge pleasure in touching silks, taffeta, cotton… I dream in the middle of all these colours, patterns and softness.
Today, I continue my passion in a more concrete way and thanks to the development of social networks at the international level, in a public way. So I started by publishing articles on topics that I particularly liked. I wanted to share my personality through different looks, show the new trends to my readers so that they can discover the must-have of the current season. Now it becomes natural to post, publish photos and write articles on themes that appeal to me.
If the market is oversaturated with bloggers at the moment, how do you manage to stay on top of your game?
Readers are looking for Instagram accounts with original content, giving ideas of look that can fit multiple persons. Web surfers want to know the latest trends and for that they expect regular publications to be made, publications revealing different outfits, for all tastes, all occasions but always keeping our personal touch so that we recognize the style through several bloggers.
Moreover, thanks to Instagram, we tell a story. We share our lives with our readers, which leads to a certain attachment. We become a virtual friend, a person with whom we can identify and so we can follow some facets of our lifestyle.
The aim is therefore to maintain constant contact with readers and to speak openly, not to give oneself a false appearance, a false personality and reveal oneself without fear of criticism.
All persons are different from one another and have their own way of thinking, of seeing the world from another point of view. It is enriching to know, to understand another person and to share experiences about fashion and, more generally, about life.
Who is your go-to IG account?
As I was saying, my objective is to reveal my personality to the public, to show my tastes, my favorite articles and also to communicate new trends of the moment. I find these features at Aimee Song with blog Song Of Style. What I particularly appreciate, apart from the personality and spontaneity of her stories, is the fact that she manages to create a perfectly harmonious gallery on Instagram. As she pointed out in her book, she thinks of everything before putting a foot outside, she knows what she is going to wear depending on where she is going to take her picture. She uses a grid to have a consistent Instagram in tones and color palette. Her personality, her spontaneity, and her style are extraordinarily reflected in her photos and publications.
Which other blogs do you read?
I particularly appreciate Something Navy’s blog, which unrestrainedly shares her everyday life, moods, beauty secrets, her daily routine and thanks to her numerous publications we have been able to follow the endless growth of her daughter Ruby Lou.
We also have the blog of Song Of Style which influences her good mood and love of the avocado. She started out as a kitchen and bathroom designer, found herself immersed in fashion and managed to conquer millions of readers. Her book teaches us the secrets of her current success, how she started, how she manages her Instagram and gives her point of view on this sector that we can think closed.
Another blogger that I regularly follow is Chiara Ferragni, her love for fashion is simply inspiring, and sharing her daily life is virtually filterless. She was one of the first bloggers to create her brand “Chiara Ferragni Collection” which I also wear very often. Her originality makes her special and makes us want to discover her.
Social networks are an integral part of our everyday life. Therefore, this is also the case for bloggers who can be described as influential. Their personality, their naturalness, their style make them unique and attract crowds.
Who inspires you?
As I said earlier, my family was in a way the driving force behind this adventure. My mother, especially who has a lot of taste in clothes, always dressed me in a lot of style and elegance when I was a child. She passed on her passion for fashion to me and gave me very trendy clothes that belonged to her when she was younger.
One of my favourite singer, Michael Jackson, has revolutionised the stage scene with his extremely original and striking outfits: outfits that I absolutely love. I listen to his songs over and over again and I am impressed by the quality of his interpretations, his charisma, and his strong personality.
I love garments, I just cannot live without them. I love to touch fabrics, I love all the variety of textures that exists, all colors, all forms that you can unify; and when you find the perfect balance and harmony, finally the magic happens. It is simply amazing what you can do with all of this.
I mean, you can just create what you want, you can express yourself, this is such a wonderful feeling. It is all about expression and finding the perfect match, the perfect harmony. I love this emotion when you discover the perfect piece, the one that will inspire and reveal the feeling and the mood of the moment.
Quote of the day?
“This is all about passion, art, and expression, there are so many expressions to relate, so many stories to tell. There is so much emotion that you can express without a single word.” Karlie Kloss
How did you manage to turn it into a career?
When I realised that we could live from our passions, I decided to dedicate part of my career to my blog. To have quality and regular posts, you have to take your time, think about the unique content you are going to share, and find the right outfits. I like fashion, I like to communicate my own vision of the world and interact with my readers through private messages or comments left under my photos. People’s comments are important because it is with constructive criticism that we improve. I say “constructive” because some people are deliberately hurtful.
It seemed logical to me that I wanted to turn this passion into a career because there are so many opportunities, I want to meet different people emblematic of luxury brands and create my own clothing brand.
What do you think is the common misconception about blogging?
What bloggers have in common is sharing their passion. It can be different worlds such as fashion, travel, culinary, painting or beauty secrets. Everyone has their own world, their own external vision and would like to show their knowledge and above all to have the opportunity to share on a global level through social networks. Each person is unique, each person can bring his or her own personal touch to enrich or even embellish everyday life. It’s quite fascinating, even magical to say that with a simple click, we can touch people from all over the world.
Being so passionate about something we love that we need to inspire at least one minority of people. This passion that invades us is an integral part of our life and being passionate makes us want to go on and on and try to improve.
Interacting, sharing is the result of a growing passion.
Lastly what advice would you give for other young women wanting a career as a professional blogger?
Becoming a blogger is a real adventure! Writing helps us to draw from the depths of ourselves, to know parts of us that we never thought we had. Our style reflects our personality and allows us to express ourselves without even writing a single word, which may seem paradoxical with the beginning of my paragraph but a photo gives us an emotion, a story and sometimes a piece of mystery.
I cannot repeat it enough, but when one is passionate, one must persevere, be ambitious and above all have a certain carapace in order not to become discouraged and not give up in spite of the possible failures that we will inevitably experience at some point, believe in what we wish to accomplish. Set this goal and don’t stop, despite the vagaries of life.
Be yourself, be regular by organising yourself. By that, I mean that we must first focus on one category to avoid being too dispersed and overwhelmed by work. The organisation will allow you to take care of your posts, find the right words thanks to the development of your thoughts and inspiration.
What I don’t recommend it to be a copy of all the other blogs, you have to show your own style and be proud of who you are. What you share must represent you, do not create a character that does not sound like you.
My last advice would be to follow the trends and bring a personal touch to each of your outfits. A trend allows you to create many outfits, to have fun, to inspire yourself; you can simply make it your own. Get started and dare!
