#BEYOUROWN MEETS LAUREN WHITE
Twenty-five year old personal trainer and motivational speaker Lauren White from Hertfordshire talks us through why HIIT training has become so successful, why is it different to other training concepts out there she defines her own version of success with us.
Hey Lauren, can you talk us through the path you have pathed to where you are now?
My path is a very interesting one. Most of the things I’ve been through in my life are the reasons I do what I do today and for me I had to go through hardship in order to grow and become the person that I am. I went into recovery for drink, drugs and bulimia when I was 18. With that I started working for the Amy Winehouse foundation, princes trust and other companies to go into schools to do talks around the issue of addiction and mental health.
On top of that I have been into fitness from a young age and became a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I travelled to Hong Kong for a job in fitness out there and was there for two and half years doing talks and teaching fitness classes. Now I am doing a masters in addiction psychology with the hope of putting my knowledge around fitness, physical health within my knowledge of mental health and addiction.
What does a typical day look like for you?
It usually starts stat 6am! I always train myself as I consume my most energy in the morning. Its usually a 6k run or some sort of cardio.
Every day is different for me because of so many things that I do. As an influencer I get invited to a lot of events so it could be an event for something, it would be clients or teaching classes (at the moment I am teaching spin classes and hit classes).. it could be university and doing my masters. I am also working in a drug and alcohol rehab at the moment too.
As a Spin/HIIT instructor, can you give us 3 tips to help us achieve what we really want?
- Always do something you love as fitness. Never put yourself through a training session for the sake of it.
- Never give up. Everything is mental so you can always push through.
- Surround yourself around friends that will help you be the best version of you and will go with you to classes.
Why do you think HIIT training has become so successful and why is it different to other training concepts out there?
HIIT is the best form of burning fat in a short amount of time. Its intense but also not too long. Some people don’t like going for a long run to burn fat or calories. However HIIT is fun, dynamic ands pushes you out of your comfort zone.
You have a masters degree in Addiction Psychology, where can you see yourself within the next 5 years and how are you planning to fuse that together with your motivational speaking?
In the next 5 years I want to have my own practice where I can train the clients and also do mentoring and counselling with them. All under one roof. I believe in helping people not just on the outside but on the inside. You can have the best job, you can have the best body but if you aren’t happy on the inside then you won’t be happy at all. I want to start doing more talks to large crowds on self esteem and positive.
Who are your own fitness idols?
Jessica Ennis is my main fitness idol as I absolutely love running and triathlons.
How do you define your own success?
My own success is down to inspiring others and making change. When someone messages me telling me I have helped them and inspired them then I know that I am successful in my own right. Its no about money or external stuff for me.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
I want to be my own person. I am my own person. I want to work on myself and never compare myself to anyone else. That is my super power.. I want to make an impact on the world by just changing peoples mindsets from the good to the bad.
Finally, what are you working on throughout 2019?
Im hoping to be promoting my brand more as an influencer within the mental health and addiction sector. Doing more talks and podcasts on my story and trying to help addicts in rehabs. I am currently doing my masters and hoping to get that done.
