Meet Diana Poulsen who has always been very curious about the power of mind and human potential, probably as long as she can remember. With that in mind, Diana explores the ideology with us of what really does make us happy, and why some people live the life of their dreams whilst other are stuck in a vicious cycle of procrastination.
Diana has relentlessly worked hard to discover how we can all regain our sense of joy, love, presence, aliveness, simple happiness, humour, playfulness, creativity, invention, and all these things we may have lost living in a world that can often feel tense, demanding and limited.
Hey Diana, can you introduce yourself to us?
I’m Diana, I have always loved exploring the unlimited potential of the human mind and heart and our deepest purpose. Now I am more than happy to support other people on the journey to finding their true purpose and implementing it in daily life through transformational and alignment coaching, Intuitive Consultancy and deep healing work.
Can you take us through your journey as to how you arrived at where you are now?
It’s a long story. I have always been very curious about the power of mind and human potential, probably as long as I can remember. What does really make us happy? How much depends on our choices and how much in life is defined by destiny? My father was my first spiritual teacher, so I grew up in the environment where I knew what meditation is.
However, I have followed the normal path for quite long, collected two Master Degrees, successful career, moved to another country and I was looking for new external activities to keep me challenged. However, I felt that there is something else missing and that I should really use my life in a better way by using my skills and gifts in personal development and science of mind.
I have worked hard to discover how we can regain our sense of joy, love, presence, aliveness, simple happiness, humor, playfulness, creativity, invention, and all these things we may have lost living in a world that can often feel tense, demanding and limited! But if we really start transformation journey within, we can start seeing how our inner approach can change the way we see external reality. We cannot change external circumstances, but we can change the way we react to it.
What are a typical 24 hours like for you?
I start my day with morning routines, I could not imagine my day without meditation, yoga, and exercise. My days are different depending on what I do from creating content to coaching clients, to having meetings and workshops.
I am a lover of nature, I live close to the sea and beautiful natural surroundings, so I try to daily run or walking trips. I love exploring new places and meeting new people.
You hold a BSc in Political Science and a Master Degree in Economics and MSc in Innovation Management from Aarhus University in Denmark, is there any other training you had to undergo?
Yes, I have completed several certification programs to support my own inner journey and help my clients to do the same: Transformational Coaching, Mindfulness and Yoga Training, Reiki and other modalities healing, Ayurveda, NLP, Law Of Attraction, Akashic Record and Intuitive Astrology consultancy.
What other areas are you looking at to develop your profession and deepen your knowledge?
I always love to keep growing. I am taking advanced healing course starting in autumn as I see a growing need for my clients to transform the subconscious beliefs in deeper ways as well as learn the art of starting their own business, which is connected to their heart.
Can you tell us how you launched?
Everything has happened gradually. I came back from my 6 months training in India and Europe and started to organise workshops and work with people one-to-one. So, it has all expanded gradually until I have started to work online internationally as well as locally.
What was the incentive behind it?
I had this deep knowing that I would do it one day, my interest in the power of subconscious and law of attraction has been in me for many years, so I really felt that I will want to do it full time one day. I simply followed my intuition that I always suggest doing for other people.
How would you say you are inspiring others to become their own teacher?
Thank you for this question! We have this deep subtle intuitive voice inside of us, and it always tells what are our next steps. As Buddha said, “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”We too often give our power away to other people beliefs, however, there is so much wisdom inside of us, we simply need to tap into it. All my work with clients separately and in groups are dedicated to inspiring them to become creators of their reality by knowing principles of healing of subconscious, Universal laws as well as practices and methods they can try in daily life.
Can you talk us through the alignment coaching and workshops that you offer to your clients?
Alignment coaching opens up this power within to becoming a creator of your destiny and aligning with your core or inner wisdom. So often we feel frustrated and confused about our path and choices in life, one day we want one thing, another – the other. Alignment coaching is based on really learning to connect to our inner wisdom in a pure state of mind and feel the right decisions for the right time as well as taking inspired actions then we are called to.
It is more than just aligning to your purpose, it’s rather learning a new way of leading life from your heart and finding power and courage within. Once we start following our inner compass and learn to transform setbacks and challenges, we naturally attract new possibilities, relationship, friendships and success in our life.
At what point did you realise that you were able to turn your interests into a profitable venture and gain a strong client database?
I simply went with a flow and once I learned about Online Business and a possibility to work internationally, it becomes clear how to make it scalable.
Who else is involved in your team?
Yes, my husband is part of the team as he is a business consultant and business coach, so idea generation often happens together as he has been successfully running his business for 10 years.
I am also starting a new project on compassionate leadership which I co-create with another amazing coach and a friend, as we believe that we need more compassionate leadership based on cooperation and co-creation in organizations while creating engagement and satisfaction in teams, so I can finally integrate my years in corporate world and coaching.
Furthermore, I often invite people from different countries to come to Denmark and give talks on different topics. I travel a lot, so I meet people from different parts of the world and invite them to visit Denmark.
Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?
I really see our project compassionate leadership project developing as well as continuing my work as a coach, healer, intuitive and teacher. I don’t believe this work will leave me even I would want to, it’s rather a deep calling from my heart. I also see myself traveling more and organising different retreats, so I connect with people from all around the world.
How are you planning to expand?
Besides the Compassionate Leadership Project and building Flair Academy, which will expand our work, I want my work and services to support people to stepping up in their purpose and fully creating a business out of it or stepping into a new career.
Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally as an entrepreneur?
It took a while to find the right people in the industry who have done it before. I had no idea about online business and how it functions even I have MSc in Business Innovation. Attracting the right clients who connect with my message and field of work was more challenging before I learned more about Online Business.
Have you ever had any other mentor? If so how has this benefitted you to grow?
I certainly have my own mentor and teachers. I believe it’s necessary for each coach to have someone who they trust to help to reach another level of awareness and expansion.
My main mentor is an expert in shadow work, so then you think you are fine, she will dig another layer of subconscious beliefs stopping your growth. And I love that, as the more subconscious beliefs we transform, the more freedom we feel. I am very inspired by the Buddhist philosophy and meditation techniques, there are several teachers, who’re skillful ways of meditation and transformation have inspired me on the way.
Which methods are you using to build your own network?
I love organising events and workshops as well as participating in different discussion groups online and offline. So, it’s grown organically.
What do you believe are the common misconceptions about being in the holistic health industry?
I believe, there are misconceptions about what it is alternative and strange. Actually, it’s very logical, practical and usually comes from very old traditions and science. The more we understand the true causes of events in our life, the more we connect with our power within, the more we can shape it.
It’s easy to be skeptical if we don’t know something. Like we some years ago, we would have been very skeptical if someone would have told us, that we can easily communicate with people from all around the world using technology. But we started using it and it works. So why not to try holistic health services?
What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?
More of a compassionate leadership with creativity and cooperation.
What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?
I met many wise teachers on the way from ancient traditions, so their words are always in my mind. “In the modern world, we do not have a real understanding of the mind. Most people think of the mind as being merely thoughts and emotions, but these are simply the appearance of the mind, not the true nature of the mind itself.” If we really contemplate this, our problems, worries and daily emotions become smaller and we can focus more on what truly matters to us.
What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?
Focus! Once you are sure about your true purpose and intuitive guidance, simply focus on that. Trust it in other ways simply will not give a long-term joy and blissful satisfaction.
How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?
I have recently made self-care and self-love as a priority. I schedule some time off every week, we spend a lot of time in nature, I love cooking vegetarian food, and simply enjoying small things in life. As my husband is also self-employed we can enjoy more freedom and travel.
The highlight of your career so far?
I love the natural flow of it, but I believe for me making a shift from a corporate career to self-employment and daring to do so has been the best decision ever.
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
Being aligned with my values, intuition, and creativity and seeing the transformation that takes place in the people that I coach.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
I love Jay Shetty as I am really connected to Eastern Philosophy, I understand his transformation and love his path. I also admire Byron Katie and her work.
How would you say you are intending to use your voice to educate others in the coaching industry?
I would love to contribute with the approach of equanimity of mind, detachment, deep transformation if thoughts and emotions as well as becoming a creator and seeking the path of deep compassion for others.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
‘Not for happiness’ by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, it’s a little ironic book about challenges on the path and tricks of the mind. Then there is also ‘A housand Names For Joy’ by Byron Katie which is simply a masterpiece.
What does your Podcast playlist look like?
Different kind of meditations and inspirational talks.
How do you measure your own terms of success?
When I am in alignment with my core values, flow, peace, joy and abundance and when my clients walk the path of alignment in ease and flow.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
Be a creator of your experience in life! Be brave, creative and compassionate with yourself.
Lastly, what is next for you throughout the rest of 2018?
We are establishing our new project with a focus on compassionate leadership and I am also launching a new Online program dedicated to clearing confusion and supporting people to step up to their purpose and learn how to implement and expand in daily life with powerful healing methods. Furthermore, I wish the readers of #BEYOUROWN to live a life in alignment with their true heart desires and peaceful mind.
