How To Foster More Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility is a duty that your business has to the world at large. It may be seen as philanthropic endeavours or charitable doings, but it can be a way of life for you and your employees. But first, you have to take a good look at your business and determine what your core values are.

Define your values

As a business owner, you have a responsibility to your business, your customers and to your employees. Over 70 percent of Millennial customers prefer brands with a purpose. If your business does not have values, then you risk losing customers and risk your business becoming unfocused. Values not only give your business focus but they can also give you purpose. For example, if your business values the earth’s resources, and you make your products only out of biodegradable items, your customers can take pride and confidence in knowing that your business has values and are true to those values.

Get your employees on board

Once you’ve established your values, you need to make sure that your employees are on board with them. If your employees are on board with your company’s values, they will not only enjoy work more, but they will be active supporters of those values and participate in corporate social responsibility. For instance, in the previous example, if your employees were on board with your company going green, they would take an active interest in keeping your business green. They might even change their own lives and share how your business is helping reduce humankind’s ecological footprint.

Be active in community outreach

One of the biggest ways you can foster more corporate social responsibility is by being active in the community. This could be anything from cleaning up the community to feeding refugees and others who are less fortunate. Not only will your employees see that you are actively working on trying to better the community, but your customers will as well. You will gain their success and more customers from being actively involved in the community.

Corporate social responsibility is your duty to the world around you, but it starts from the heart of your business. Without establishing values and getting your employees on board with those values, you cannot generate corporate social responsibility. But with your team on board, you can not only grow your business, but you can also make the world a better place.

One of the biggest ways you can foster more corporate social responsibility is by being active in the community. This could be anything from cleaning up the community to feeding refugees and others who are less fortunate.

A great example of this practice in action is the ‘buy one, give one policy’ you can see being run if you visit website. With their donations clocking in at over 17 million so far. Indeed, as they highlight on their website by providing free glasses to those in need in over 130 countries, they can help people improve their quality of life, education and even earning power.

By being active in the community in this way, your employees see that you are actively working on trying to better the community, but your customers will as well. You will gain their success and more customers from being actively involved in the community.
