How To Grow A Successful Business By &SISTERS

Starting your own business involves hard work and dedication, where no one day is the same, leaving you with new challenges and opportunities to progress. In this article, Lucy Lettice the co-founder and COO of &SISTERS gives us some of her top tips to help your business thrive and reach its goals and full potential.

Imposter syndrome is very real

You don’t have to be the loudest voice in the room to be heard, but you do need to make yourself heard. Finding ways to communicate that suits you and are effective is key. If you notice you are experiencing negative thoughts of self-doubt, name it and then tame it! Business owners who have overcome their imposter syndrome find confidence, a strong sense of self and peace.

Your biggest asset is your gut and your natural instinct

If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t, and if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is! When you need to make tough decisions, sometimes falling on your gut feeling is the best option, accompanied by intuition, experience and the capacity to take risks. Trusting your gut is crucial to success.

Know your customer

As the target customer for our &SISTERS products, it’s hard to separate your own ideas and suggestions, but consumer research is key and invaluable in guiding the direction of the business. As a company, we are continuously speaking to our customers to discover what they want. This prevents us from being blinded by our personal tastes and desires and ensures we’re catering to a wider audience.

Seek out advice through mentors, coaches and advisors

Whether it’s a founder in the same space to bounce ideas off, a personal development coach or an advisor on taxes; there is always someone you can speak to, a lot of the time informally and free of charge. Alongside this, speaking to different people with different opinions can help you to get answers from a different point of view.

Practice makes perfect

From leadership challenges, prioritising time, or pitching an investment deck, practice makes perfect and you can only learn from your mistakes. Over the past few years, I’ve made endless mistakes and to begin with, I would take them to heart each time! However, I’ve learnt that making mistakes makes you a better business person and has helped me to grow as an entrepreneur.
