Cherie Cox a spiritual entrepreneur on a mission to help women heal inner blocks and love the life you’ve been gifted. Through mindset, energy healing and taking action towards your dreams, Cherie will guide you to step into your power and live the life you desire.
Hey Cherie, can you introduce yourselves to us?
Would love to. I’m a soulful woman who is passionate about helping women release the past, connect with their self-love, know their self-worth and move towards their dreams. When we are in a space of inner love, our outside world comes together. I live in Toronto and have been on an amazing healing and awakening journey. I love digging deep, heart filled conversations, creating affirmations and spending time by the water.
Can you take us through your journey so we can understand a bit more in depth about how you arrived to where you are now?
So many things have helped me arrive to where I am now but one thing really made me take action and move towards what I’m here to do. Throughout my life I can recall magical moments happening around me but never fully paid attention to them. I would have these powerful moments of feeling like I was here for a reason, that there was something far greater within but I didn’t know what to do with this. It was when my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and we knew what the outcome was going to be that I started to take control of my life. For years I was in a pattern of not loving myself fully, not feeling worthy of all that I desired and continued to not show up for myself the way I wanted to. In a dark place I decided to find light.
At a heartbreaking time, I chose love. When I started to look within it was amazing what I found. So much self-love, acceptance, trust, drive and passion were there waiting for me. The reasons I was holding myself back weren’t always enjoyable to acknowledge but I sat with them, worked through them, learned and let go. As I started on this journey I noticed how many women hold themselves back from truly living the life they desire. Past experiences and ego chatter can over power the love that we are here to share. After losing my Mom I definitely realised that we never know what life holds for us, that we have been gifted with our body and this life as the person we are for a reason and that when my time comes I want to look back and say – that was fun. Through this learning and growth, I knew I had to share and start helping other women.
What is a day in the life of you like?
I’m an early riser. Early bird gets the worm, right? Morning is my favourite time of the day and I’m the most productive in the mornings. My day starts with water and lemon and a centering morning routine of meditation, gratitude and intention setting. Then it’s coffee, breakfast and get ready to conquer the day. I get settled into my desk and the fun begins. I try and schedule clients between 10am – 4pm. When I’m not on a call with a client I am brainstorming, creating and connecting. The evenings can include yoga, going for a walk, making dinner, relaxing on the couch, spending time with loved ones and enjoying a delicious beer.
As a solopreneur, what was the start-up process and how did you build your client-base?
The startup process was a slow process for me. I had all these ideas and creations brewing but I really didn’t know where to start. It was when I started to get clear on my vision, put a plan in place and organise and map out steps that I became more confident in what I needed to do. I also worked with a Business Coach which really helped move me forward.
I’ve built my clientele through connecting with women. I will reach out to potential soul clients, learn about who they are, what is holding them back in their life and show value. Also, social media. I love to share my purpose and motivation through pictures and quotes, creating connection and welcoming others in.
Can you tell me why you are encouraging us women to tap into our inner knowing, and to love the life we’ve been gifted?
Oh, yes! Because this is your one life as the person you are. You have been gifted with this life as you. You are here as you for a reason. Which is amazing. So often we stand in our own way. We hold ourselves back and fill ourselves with doubt, worry and fear. When we connect to our soul – a place of love, everything changes. Our passion, confidence and drive ignites. I want to empower women to love themselves so they can live fulfilling, joyful, passionate lives. Heal and awaken your soul gifts.
How are you helping your clients to heal, break through inner blocks and align with their light?
When working with clients, I have combined:
- Mindset. What are you saying to yourself? What stories and experiences are you living in? What negative thoughts do you speak? What we say to ourselves affects our life. Thoughts become things! I help my clients shift their mindset in an uplifting, positive, supportive way.
- Energy Healing. It is so important to release any negative, stagnant energy that you are holding onto. Reiki helps clear blocks in your body, balance the body and mind and promote emotional and physical healing. Treatments are relaxing and soothing and will help you feel clear and calm.
- Take Action. I help my clients get clear on what they need to let go of, what they want in life and then move towards their dreams. You have to take action. Taking action is a massive moving forward piece.
When you put these 3 together, it is magic!
Who does the team involve behind you at Ignite Your Soul?
Right now it’s me. Which, I am happy with for now. I enjoy my work and am very organised. In saying that, I see myself hiring someone soon.
Where can you see yourself within the next 3-5 years?
Right now I live in Toronto, a massive vibrant city. In 3-5 years I see myself being surrounded by lots of green space and close to the water. A calm, peaceful home. I see myself travelling for work sharing my message, speaking in front of an audience, having a podcast, maybe writing a book. I’m a dreamer and have lots of visions for the future.
How are you planning to expand the services you offer?
Right now I enjoy working with clients one on one. Creating that connection, digging deep and designing a clear path for each person is amazing and my clients appreciate the passion, love and thought I put into them. Down the road I see myself expanding my services to hosting retreats. I’ve been having visions of a retreat and am excited to create this space. I am also in the process of creating a 3-month program. It has been super fun and exciting creating this.
Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?
Don’t take things personally. This can be a tough one but it’s important to not take things too personally. Be professional, do the best you can and let it go. Also, being visible was a struggle at first. I was nervous. I still get nervous at times but encourage myself to get out there anyway. It’s all about learning and growing.
Have you ever had any other mentors? If so, how has this benefitted you to grow?
Absolutely! I believe it’s important to have a mentor, someone to help guide you and to learn from. I’ve worked with a life coach and business coach. Both, amazing. Working with a life coach really helped me overcome personal fears and break through barriers. Working with a Business Coach was very insightful, helped me get clear on my vision and grow my business. Also, my Dad has always been a mentor and inspiration in my life.
What outlets do you use to market your Ignite Your Soul program?
I mostly use Facebook and Instagram to market my program and services. Thanks social media.
Which methods are you using to build your own support network?
I’ve connected with some amazing, inspiring women online. Facebooks groups are a great way to build a support network. Family and friends have been a wonderful support. Also, my connection to unconditional love. As a spiritual person, I feel very connected to the universe and the messages and signs it gives me. I have a daily practice of slowing down and listening. This allows me to feel constant support.
What do you believe are the common misconceptions of being an entrepreneur?
Being an entrepreneur is amazing but there is a lot of work that goes into being an entrepreneur. Some people may think it is constant freedom. Which can be true but when you are the face for your business, you constantly have to show up for yourself and your business. You are always trying to learn, grow and make things happen. Being an entrepreneur requires a lot of dedication.
What would you like to see changed for millennials in business?
For me it’s all about connection. Seeing, hearing and being able to converse with someone. I’ve been noticing a ton of online courses and programs. There can be a lot of value in online courses but don’t lose the connection to people.
What is the best piece of advice you have received to date?
My Dad once said that no matter what is going on in his life, he wakes up every morning and says “how am I going to make today the best day,” I love this! It is a reminder to always continue moving forward, move towards your dreams and don’t let anything stand in your way. If you want something, go for it. Make it happen and wear a smile while doing it.
What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?
Stop doubting yourself and start trusting yourself. By doubting myself I was holding myself back from making my business a reality. You must Believe in what you are doing. Trust that everything will work out. Know that you are going to help others and make a difference in this world.
How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?
I love what I do but I have no trouble taking time for me. Monday – Friday I really focus on my business but come the evenings and weekends – it’s time for me and loved ones. Throughout the day my phone and laptop are by my side but in the evenings I often have them out of sight.
The highlight of your career so far?
The highlight so far is being able to do what I love. I am so grateful for my career. It makes me happy and excited. Doing what I love and knowing that I am helping others is a dream come true.
What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?
Seeing the growth in my clients. It lights me up seeing them light up. It’s rewarding beyond measure.
What barriers have you faced whilst building your Ignite Your Soul?
The biggest barrier has been me. There was some fear around opening up and putting myself out there. At first I really help back and worried what others would think. When I healed that wound, I let go of that worry. Reality is, I’m not for everyone. But there are people out there that are looking and waiting for me and what I offer. With open arms I’m excited for them to find me.
Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
I admire Gabrielle Bernstein – Her story, the way she speaks and the love she shares. She is inspiring and her work is motivating. Also, Ellen DeGeneres – How she is helping so many people, her kindness, her ability to connect and make people laugh. I love what she is doing. Watching these two pumps me up.
How would you say you are intending to use your voice to educate others in the coaching industry?
I am here to empower and inspire women. We all need someone to help guide and support us through life. I am here to be that guidance, the voice that will uplift women, the lightworker to help women heal and restore and the soul sister to help women shine like they are meant to. The power is within, I found it and want to educate women on how to find theirs too.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I love ‘Rise Sister Rise’ by Rebecca Campbell. It is an amazing book. If you are on a spiritual journey, if you are awakening your soul, read this book. I felt so connected to her story and words. I would highly recommend it.
What does your Podcast playlist look like?
I’ve been listening to ‘The school Of Greatness’ with Lewis Howes and ‘The LIFE COACH School’ with Brooke Castillo.
How do you measure your own terms of success?
For me success is all about how I’m feeling, being happy, enjoying my journey, learning, growing and making an impact.
What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?
To me #BEYOUROWN means be you, follow your passions, find your purpose and create the life you desire. BEYOUROWN happiness, BEYOUROWN creator, BEYOUROWN boss.
Lastly what is next for you and Ignite Your Soul?
Next is to keep helping others and taking steps to continue building my business with love and passion. I want to personally keep growing and expanding so I can help my clients more and more. I see and feel amazing things on the horizon.
