Kelsey Hojara is a registered dietitian and online nutrition coach! She helps women lose body fat and gain confidence while including all foods with 1-on-1 nutrition coaching! Outside of her online coaching business, she loves to lift weights, drink craft beer, cook, and practice her photography skills.

Kelsey, What does a typical day look like for you?

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do while laying in bed is thank god for giving me a day. I immediately wake up and put myself in the mindset of gratitude. On days I wake up on time (I’m not perfect lol!) I will meditate and journal before getting ready for work. I currently work full time and run my business as a part-time hustle! After my 9-5, I either go to the gym or have client coaching calls! I stay very busy, but always make time for my 3 meals per day and 1-2 snacks!


How did you shape your career path as a dietician and nutritionist? 

I’m a recent graduate, April 2019. Within a very short period of time of working my 9-5 career, I knew I wanted to create more change within people and create a bigger impact. I started my online business as a way to do this! I knew there would never be a right time to start, so I took a leap of faith and trusted that God would guide me along the way. Being an online dietitian nutrition coach is not in the norm for my field. I just knew that it was where I was supposed to put my efforts! 

How are you helping women gain confidence & loose body fat whilst enjoying a flexible food palette?

I’m a firm believer that all foods can fit in moderation. I like to take an 80/20 approach, 80% whole foods and 20% fun foods! Each client is different in how I teach this. Some will use macronutrient tracking, while others start out with the basics of how to plan a balanced meal and how to meal prep. I meet my clients where they’re at so they can reach their goals without feeling overwhelmed! I help my badass lady clients gain confidence in a wide variety of ways. The most important is using tools to teach them to love who they are and the bodies they were given! My favourite tools are gratitude journaling and words of affirmation. The results of my amazing clients get makes me so proud to be apart of their journeys. 

Can you give us two dos and dont’s for healthy living?

Two Do’s:

  1. Include a lean protein source at every meal
  2. Stay active however you can! I’m a big fan of resistance training for women. That doesn’t mean it’s for everyone though. Do whatever you can to keep moving!

Two Don’ts:

  1. Don’t search for short term fixes including fad diets, diet pills, slim teas, and whatever else they’re going to promote over the next hundreds of years
  2. Don’t listen to “what worked” for your coworkers. Your coworker is not you and your coworker is likely not a professional in the field!

Do you have any mentors?

Yes! I invested in a business coach for 90 days. His name is Tony Stephan. It was great to learn from someone who has experience in online coaching! I plan to further invest in the future.

What platforms are you using as marketing tools to promote your online coaching program?

I use Instagram primarily. I also have a private Facebook group called Kelsey’s Coaching Community. In there I post exclusive content, live training videos, recipes, and it’s a great place to find support from others on a similar fitness journey!

Do you currently use any apps or tools to help the functionality of your business?

Yes! The app I use the most with my clients is My Fitness Pal. It’s a great tool for clients to track their food intake and it allows me to see what they’re eating. I also have all my clients in a group chat on an app called Slack. 

From fad diets to celeb endorsements and slimming teas, if you could tell your client a solid piece of advice, what would it be?

I would tell my client that fad diets and slim teas only give short term results. Most people are already aware of this. I would tell them that if they want long-term results, they should put their trust into me and know that I have their best interest at heart. 

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

BEYOUROWN to me means being the person that God created me to be. I need to follow my path and share my message based on my past experiences! It’s okay, wait no it’s amazing to be unapologetically me and not follow the status quo. 

What does 2020 look like for you?

I love the quote, “if you’re not growing, then you’re dying.” 2020 for me looks like continuing to become the best entrepreneur, nutrition coach, and women I possibly can be! I plan to create a bigger impact, by taking on more strong and intelligent women for my 1:1 nutrition coaching program. I also plan to become a certified personal trainer so I can help women, who are scared to lift weights in an area that is dominated by men, feel confident walking into a weight room!
