Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

For sure! I’m a London gal, born and raised, I’m now based at Tileyard Studios which is an incredible community of creatives. I’ve been writing music for a while now since I was about 15, and I really can’t imagine doing anything else! I did study at uni for a year or so and it’s something I’d like to get back to in the future but for now, my music is the only thing on my mind.

Congratulations on your EP ‘Burn Notice’, we are also loving the new single with Mike Mago what’s been the highlight of this campaign for you?

Thanks! I’m very excited about the new single with Mike, it was great to collaborate together on the track. I love Amsterdam as a city so having an excuse to go there was definitely a highlight! I’m just so excited that the track is out for people to hear, that’s definitely the part I look forward to the most even though it definitely comes with a side of nervousness!

What has surprised you most about the music industry the most?

It’s gotta be how supportive some people can be, I think the music industry gets painted as a bit of a “dog eats dog” kind of world and, to a degree, I suppose it is but I have been fortunate enough to have had the most amazing encounters with some world-renowned musicians who have been so humble and want to share their advice and experience with you.

Did you get any tips or tricks anywhere that got you a leg up in the music industry?

One thing I got told and learned very quickly is that there are zero shortcuts, as with most things in life, and that hard work really can change things for you. I’m lucky enough to have some incredible mentors who have guided me, I wouldn’t be anywhere without them! I guess my favourite tip was that you have to learn to bounce back, even though it’s sometimes harder said than done, and I’m definitely still learning how to do that!

Who did you listen to growing up?

What didn’t I listen to?! I listened to very varied music, ranging from rock music to pop and back to country music, I blame both my parents for that! My go-to’s were Johnny Cash, Guns N’ Roses and Don McLean, my dad liked to play American Pie on Sundays and it always reminds me of that.

What is your number one tip for surviving this thing called life?

Have a strong support group around you who have your best interests at heart. It could be your family, your friends but being able to just rely on people that you love to help you stand back up is absolutely invaluable, plus not much can’t be made better without a solid cup of tea. A good cup of tea is essential!

Who or what influences you when you are writing?

I write about my own experiences and things that happen to me, so it could be anything from a personal situation to a work-related one! I feel very strongly about equality so that often features in what I write, especially if I’ve had an experience relating to that.

What would your dream collaboration be?

I would love to work with The Weeknd, I think he’s an amazing writer and singer and I’ve really enjoyed his music so far. I can’t wait to see what he comes out with next!

What is the best gig you have ever seen live?

Ahh, this is an unfair question! I’ve seen some incredible gigs, it’s impossible to choose. I have never seen Beyoncé live though and I would LOVE to see her perform, so let me see her and then I’ll tell you!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

In an absolutely ideal world, I’d love to do an all-encompassing tour, I love to travel so it would be the ultimate combination for me, singing and travelling. Fingers crossed, I’d still be writing my heart out though, I’ve still got a lot to say.
