Get Things Done And Feel Motivated With These 5 Simple Tips By Kristjana Hillberg

Lizzo asked, “Baby, how you feelin’?” and she put a catchy beat to it that has us dancing in our cars at the stoplight.  Looking at our nails, tossin’ our hair and air kissing the rearview mirror.  This article is for all women as a collective.  Those who are finding themselves completely unmotivated and just meh.  It all stems down to one thing girl.  Do you want to know what that is? Self Care.

Daily self-care is essential.  It is something you put into your planner, on a sticky note and let everyone around you know not to bother you while you are doing this thing.  If you are feeling uninspired, it’s time to get into the habit of taking care of yourself first.  Whether that’s getting a work out in, indulging in a $6 yogurt parfait, or sitting on your deck with a coffee and listening to an audiobook before you dive in to business related tasks!  When you feel taken care of, rejuvenated, and fresh…you can show up ready to kick-a**. Follow these 5 underestimated tips by Kristjana Hillberg to get you feeling back to feelin’ good as hell.

Listen to your mind & body each day

When you wake up, ask yourself how you are feeling.  Do some light stretches.  Get grounded into the emotions you are experiencing and try to embody how you want to be showing up.  Are you still tired?  Maybe sleep a little longer if that’s an option.  Instead of coffee, maybe try a tea.  Does your body want to walk or run or play?  Make sure you’re really tapping into what it needs in that moment.

Get moving!

If you aren’t feeling super motivated and energized, take a dance break or move your body in ANY way.  Jumping or bouncing helps flush out toxins & improves your immune system.  If you just need a break from work, phone a friend.  It’s also been said that masterbating on your lunch break can give some fresh perspective.

Time block

Set a timer when you have several tasks you know you need to get done.  It helps you focus when you know you are setting a time limit on each project.  When the timer goes off, if you’re in the zone and want to keep going, set another 15 minute timer.  Blocking your time helps keep you focused and prioritizes the things that are urgent. Bonus tip: put all notifications on pause during this time so you are not bothered by random emails, texts from your mom, etc.

Work within your optimal energy time frame

When do you feel the most attentive and alert?  Some people focus the best at night between 8-10pm.  Others are most chipper from 6-8am.  Discover that time for you and do your most important “to-dos” during these hours.  Don’t try and write an article at 3pm on a Friday when you have brain fog and are thinking of the party you are going to later.  You won’t be focused and it will show up in the finished product!

Do things you are passionate about

When you are truly in flow and completely immersed in something that you are excited about, motivation seems to come easy.  Life is meant to be enjoyed.  If you find yourself unhappy and unmotivated frequently, take inventory of how you are spending your days.  Outsource tasks you hate (ie. laundry, taxes, raking leaves) and spend more time doing things you love (ie. coaching, painting, rapping).

Give yourself compassion and make sure you are filling your cup up often and surrounding yourself with things that create happiness.  Life is meant to be enjoyed and doesn’t need to be hustle 24/7 until you’re burnt out crying on the bathroom floor.  Preventative care=self-care.
