Winter Is Upon Us And Most Of Us Are Feeling The Chill By Sandie Vara

But, as Sandie Vara, The Spice Expert says; “ The world has always felt a chill for the last two/three thousand years, but we have managed to beat off many flu and colds and other viruses! With remedies that date back millennia that even today can help to keep us warm.” Here are Sandie’s top tips for spices and ingredients that help to keep you healthy this winter.

They are;

  • Turmeric
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Honey
  • Lemon

His other two cheeky ingredients that he likes to add in due to their wonderous properties are;

  • Black pepper
  • Cayenne chilli

This recipe below is something that anyone can make at home. It’s an immunity shot that helps to boost the system to fight off all those nasty germs that make us have the sniffles, gives us sore throats, and have that heavy mucus on our chests. This is Sandie’s old-fashioned remedy that gets rid of it!

Turmeric should only be used in limited amounts as otherwise “It will taste like dirt!”. Turmeric has so many great health properties. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antidepressant, plus it can help your memory too!

Sandie advocates for the use of freshly macerated garlic and ginger due to the increase this brings to their natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and other properties that may protect against stress, cancers, and nausea and alleviate the symptoms of a cold.

He next adds nature’s gold gift honey.

The best honey you can use is Manuka honey but under the current circumstances, of this cost-of-living crisis, it can be very, very expensive, but encourages us to use the best quality you can get or try local honey.

Next is beautiful, fresh, Scillian Lemon

On its own has the power to help fight off colds and boost immunity. Again, fresh is best!  There you have it, the classic honey, lemon, and ginger mixture, the three of them together are just a match made in Heaven and fight off so many colds and flu and just helps you warm your body.

When making this, add two further ingredients, if you can handle it; a touch of freshly ground black pepper and/or cayenne chilli to your hot drink. You don’t need copious amounts of chill or black pepper, just a small amount and that it is a natural booster for the other spices and herbs, basically increasing their power, and bringing out the best of all of them.

So this winter, Sandie Vara The Spice Experts encourages you to have a go with these old-fashioned spices and herbs that we have in abundance, and you’ll find that you will be warmed this Christmas.
