5 Ways To Deal With Any Challenge In Life By Eli Zheleva

Whatever happens in your life, you choose to feel better or bitter. If you want to be able to deal with anything in your life, you need to be prepared. Life will happen, things will be outside of your control, and sometimes they won’t go the way you want them to. Like athletes though, you should not turn up at a competition expecting to win if you haven’t prepared. If you think about it, in life if you’re scared, that’s because you’re not prepared. A performance and marketing coach Eli Zheleva, shares practical tips on how to equip your mind to deal with anything that may come your way.

Cognitive reframing

Cognitive reframing is a psychological technique that encourages people to look for new perspectives in any situation that they perceive as negative. The aim is to see what blessings are in disguise. For example, if your car breaks down, the first thought that is likely to cross your mind is negative – it is likely to be focused on what you’ve lost – money to fix it, convenience, time, and so on. However, with time, you can train your brain to look for the bright side. In this example, you might need to use alternative means of transport – which can give you more time for reading, listening to podcasts/audiobooks, perhaps even journaling.

Practice equanimity

A simple and practical way to practice equanimity is to do it through a guided meditation. In that, you will be guided to think of an event that you know will trigger negative emotions in you and then to develop ways to deal with that situation. You can also recite an equanimity mantra and focus on your breathing when thinking about the situation. That will help link the thoughts of a stressful situation with calmness coming from the breathwork.

Practice forgiveness

Forgiveness is a gift that you give to yourself. Many people live in the misunderstanding that forgiving someone means that you agree with what they’ve done. In most situations, people experience judgement. They judge others for their thoughts and actions and judge themselves. Forgiving means that you free yourself from the energy that’s locked in the situation.

A good starting point to teach yourself to forgive is to use the Hawaiian practice of forgiveness called Ho’oponopono. It consists of repeating four phrases. “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you.”

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is also known as tapping or psychological acupressure. It is a technique that focuses on different points along the body meridians and combines that with positive affirmations spoken out loud. Releasing the emotional pressure points helps with reducing stress levels and with that, strengthens the immune system. It’s not a coincidence that the word disease comes from the state of being at dis-ease. EFT is believed to help reduce the negative emotional charge in any situation.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube to help you get started. You can search for EFT for a specific challenge you have, e.g. anxiety, judgement, fear of heights, etc.

Serve others

One of the best ways to start feeling better about yourself, to gain a different perspective and to build a new connection is to serve. When focusing on helping someone else or something bigger than yourself, you find the strength within yourself you didn’t think you had. This shifted energy will help you navigate through any situation in a better way, as then you are more likely to be acting from a place of love, than a place of lack. And the more you live your life viewing it from a place of love, the more abundant you will be. Wealth comes in many ways. Don’t limit yourself to money – have more love, compassion, gratitude.

Another great way to deal with life’s obstacles is finding immediate solutions rather than whining about the problems. There is no specific way to solve challenges you will encounter in your life, but you can take measures and steps to find the right solution.

Each challenge will be unique. Therefore, you need to evaluate it from all angles and develop as many options as you can. For instance, if you are worried about your living security, assess whether to rent your whole life or invest in a home, and choose the right one.

If you are worried about your retirement phase in life, why not research some of the best homes to live in old age, such as luxury retirement villages. Suppose you find it challenging to find the right job, you should consider solutions such as networking, adding extra courses to boost your skills, etc.

There are many solutions you can implement in your life. So, rather than stressing over your problems, it would be wise to find answers.
