Research the company ahead of time

You might have a lot of interviews coming up in a similar field and it can take a lot of time to research each company individually. While this might be the case, you want to show each company that you are committed and enthusiastic about the role at hand. Research things such as who the heads of certain departments are if they have won any awards or accolades and how long they have been trading for. Whether you are looking into Technology Consulting, marketing or sales, you want to be ready.

Dress for the part

The first thing many potential employers will notice about you is what you’re wearing. Because of this, you want to take care of your appearance for your job interview. As well as dressing smart, think of an outfit that would be practical for the job at hand as this can help them to envisage you in the role. If you are going for a career in fashion, for example, you want to put together an outfit that shows the current trends or your own proclivity for style. Ensure you have also smart/ clean shoes as these are statistically the first thing new people notice about you! Ensure you get a good night’s sleep before and that you feel fresh and ready.

Prepare questions

One of the things that every recruiter of a company is likely to ask at the end of your interview is “do you have any questions?” While this might not be the case, it’s a good idea to always have some questions up your sleeve to show your interest in the role and company. You could ask something such as why the person interviewing you likes working there, what the company’s policies are on holiday or if they offer any incentives. Think about what you want from the company and find questions that will get you these answers.

These are just a few top tips that should help you ace your interview. Make sure you go in there with your head held high and act confident (even if you might not feel it!) By doing so you are sure to show you are capable of completing the job at hand efficiently and effectively. What are some top tips you have for doing well in a job interview?
